Harry Pearson's long awaited The Farther Corner does not disappoint. The Far Corner became a record of north east football before the great changes of new stadia and shifts in Northern League axis from former coalfield townships, so will The Farther Corner be a record of the north east football world before COVID? Jam packed with characters, true touchline and bus journey banter. The north east tour that the tour guides never reach. Love it! My interview of Harry about The Farther Corner

Daniel Gray - Extra Time - Dan sharpened his quill with Fly Me To The Moon before establishing himself at the vanguard of a new generation of football travel writers. He shares his sense of wonderment for the extraneous detail surrounding the football matchday event with his young daughter. It is a little pocketful of delights. A charming, warm glow on a cold floodlit night as Dan talks us through 50 different facets that make a matchday special. From the mysteries of the Coin Toss, to Late Fitness Tests and the Pools Panel to the eary silence after One Minute Silence. Fifty reasons why we are missing the football match experience right now.

Yer Joking.jpg

Yer Joking Aren't Ya - Tom Flight - after nearly quarter of a century a Boro author allows to become over excited once more about that incredible season 96/97. That incredible trio Juninho, Emerson and Ravanelli. We lived the dream until it turned to nightmare. Where is Emerson? Where were Boro at Blackburn? 3 Points etc.. and the black hole of the tragic ending is beckoning but for the first time ever thanks to Tom's book I can come out from behind the sofa and dare to get excited again about the highlights and not swept away by the depression of the summer of 97.

Bernie Slaven - Slaven Snaps - I am pretty excited about what is a cross between an annual and scrapbook. Great photos of Bernie through his Boro career, interspersed with his Boro contracts and letters from Bruce Rioch issuing a fine for not flying on a pre-season tour. As Bernie says himself a mental health issue these days. The contracts are fascinating when you think they are in the Premier era - has someone missed a 0 or 00 from the weekly wage.

Some ideas for you - you have a few days left to track these books down. Harry Pearson and Daniel Gray should be in most book shops. Bernie has been out selling today in the Hill Street Centre, Debenhams. Tosh was in the Dundas Arcade on Saturday - look on Memories of Middlesbrough facebook page. Yer Joking Aren't Ya? was definitely in WH Smiths, Teesside Park last time I looked, and The Works bookshop too. My Boro Debut - there are about 50 left in the Boro shop at the Riverside.
