9 Boro players away on international duty

Marcus Forss - Finland
Paddy McNair - Northern Ireland
Zack Steffen - USA
Riley McGree - Australia
Hayden Hackney - Scotland U21s
Cameron Archer - England U21s
Aaron Ramsey - England U20s
Sonny Finch - England U18s
Anfernee Dijksteel - Suriname

So that's the majority of our current starting 11 away on international duty, and a regular starter in Forss, which could be inconvenient for training and preparations for Huddersfield.

Obviously good to see so many players getting recognition though.

Yep thats how it works. Age when the qualifying campaign begins. A good few players born in the same month in that squad.

On a different note as didn't feel like it was worth a new thread over but where does Sonny Finch come in the pecking order for the club? If Kavanagh wasn't out on loan - would he have been on the bench instead of Finch the other day? Or has Finch surpassed him?

Not only Kav but also Coburn to return next season. Good that academy now seems to be producing centre forwards on a regular basis - also lots of promising goalkeepers have been involved recently

Coburn seemed clearly ahead of both in development so didn't include him. But the other two - I wasn't really sure who would be more likely to be involved in the first team out of those two. Whether Finch is progressing that much this season that he was involved with the first team or if Kav was still here then he'd have been picked ahead of him.

If Clarke was not injured we could have fielded an entire non Warnock starting XI

Finch was ahead of Kavanagh at the start of the season when he played in the Carabao and Kav was on the bench.
I feel like Kavanagh's progress has stalled a little - he's not pulling up any trees on loan by the sound of it.
