Vaping in the stadium

I'm happy with VAR for offsides, needs a bit of good mature process to be used properly in other circumstances. I wouldn't be against a tennis type system where the manager can make maybe 2 challenges per half.
I love the drama of it. I get that in the prem a goal goes in and you have to wait to see if its a goal. Rubbish for fans at the ground, great for a casual argument down the pub.

So you are advocating a free for all on pollutants and carcinogens? If one’s allowed they all have to be allowed. Even if society is dependant on one while actively reducing it and replacing with EVs
EV's are just as bad for the planet as conventional engined cars are. Just in different ways.

They are very unlikely dangerous passively to an adult. You shouldn't vape around young children, you risk addiction and damaging lung development.

You cannot seriously be comparing scientific endevours today with 100 years ago, surely?
No because today big businesses like to shroud science in a plume of smoke so they can continue to sell whatever they want regardless of the dangers.

oh Randy, I just knew you would spout that kind of sentiment despite there being much evidence that this isn't the case. The lifetime impact is far less.

I hark back to my comment about big business and its cloud of smoke to hide true science.

Proven incorrect, even more so if people provide their own green energy.

Also, EV development has lead to massive investment in renewables and various battery tech, so by buying what we have now, it's funding moving to be even greener and better. ICE has never been good, and never will be and is only funding things which are worse, for longer.

I'm talking the way a battery is made. But that's for another day.
If something is banned in the stadium then it needs enforcing. That's a stewarding issue.

I vape but wouldn't in the stadium - although I am pleased Boro is one of the few grounds which lets you out at HT.

That said, on my travels in Sweden I've happily encountered snus which is sufficient for places such as sporting arenas and concerts where smoking/vaping is barred.

I agree in principle but quite a lot of studies have been independent. They simply don't, on all known evidence, have anywhere near the danger to health as cigarettes.

There are links with a copd like illness but it is difficult to assess even that because most people who vape and have suffered were previously smokers.

I vape, as I have no willpower.
I would not dream of vaping in my seat though. I was once blowing my last chug of vape out of my lungs whilst walking up the stairs from the concourse (yes, I know vaping isnt allowed there either), and the Steward was all over me like white on rice. He wasnt happy at all and proceeded to stare at me for most of the first half.
It's the only time I've tried a sneaky vape whilst in the ground and I learned my lesson!
Good on the club for letting people out at half time for their fix. A sensible approach, but should be reciprocated by people when they are in the ground.

I allowed for that also. Ideally don't want to cover this here, but you brought it up.

A battery is guaranteed for 100k miles, meaning they probably expect it to last 200k miles, and even after that it will still have use, just less than 80%. Seeing as most people's daily driving is <50 miles, this box will be ticked until the rest of the car falls apart, and seeing as the motors are extremely reliable this will be far longer than for ICE. It might take a decade to prove this, but it will be proven, largely as it's already been largely proven with cars of prior generations.

Obviously, battery recycling will come into it too, back into other cars or back into people's homes etc. People ain't going to be scrapping full batteries, and their rare materials not be recovered.

EV's are the future, to get to the best of that, you need to go through the parity of what it's replacing, and it did that years ago.

As already said, the issue is that it is not permitted in the stadium, so therefore it should not happen, so anyone doing so breaches the terms of their SC contract. Personally if anyone is daft enough to abuse their bodies with any such product, well that is their lookout, but when it interferes with anothers personal space, then they fall into the selfish category, just like those who cause misery when drunk. The problem is the law deals with drunk nuisances, it doesn’t cover blowing your strawberry flavoured breath in my personal space, causing me or anyone else, nuisance, alarm or distress in the same way, but my distress may well be significant to my mental as well as physical health. Just stand outside the ground vaping and be good boys and girls, it is a fair compromise as I see it.

As for the unknown long term effects, well they are that, simply unknown. I can imagine a time will come where it will be subject to excise duty, and I’d support that given we do not know what harm these chemicals ingested will cause down the line. It could help fund the NHS in some small way now, just in case. I mean do we know every vape is what it says it is anyway? Do we know whether there is a market for cheap home concocted chemically produced stuff that criminals can make a fast buck on while slowly harming the population, and how rigorously the vape markets are actually monitored for quality?

Don't disagree with the sentiment roofie, but the discussion was very specifically about vaping in the ground.
And like everything - its connected with everything else in life and the world and everything.
Our fellow posters have mentioned cars. cigarettes, etc. Thank goodness we`re not like ,erm.....

You dont arf expect a lot from those part-time stewards on £10 hr.
You might find it much easier if we all encourage others and police ourselves ?

Earlier in the season ,a couple of lads sat in the West Stand where the players and family normally sit decided they wanted to vape and were passing it amongst each other.
A couple of people behind me were griping about it but just sat there , I just told them that it wasn’t allowed and to be fair to them, they stopped.
