Just planning ahead for the Bristol game - We plan to be there in the afternoon before the game.

Myself and Mrs W, like a bit of culture. We have done SS Great Britain (which is interesting to us) - anything else towards near the Centre that is worth a visit?, we will have the car if a drive is required.

Clifton is nice lots of nice eating places MShed if you fancy having a look at the history of Bristol down by the Harbourside there are some nice places to. Not sure if the pleasure trips on a boat up the river are running yet we usually do that when the Harbour festival is on.

Cheers for the interesting suggestions.

Mrs W did do a course connected with Bristol Uni, that was in a house near Clifton Suspension Bridge. The house used to belong to a tobacco baron (Wills) and had great views across South Bristol. That gave me a chance to explore the Suspension Bridge. South Bristol was dominated by the tobacco trade a 100 years ago.

chuck some statues in a canal

my daughter lives in bristol - she often phones me when she's walking thru the city on her way back to her flat - it's amazing how often it sounds like there's a riot/protest/d&b festival going on - yesterday they were all gathering outside the police station, presumably because of the Met report. always seems to involve an opportunity to get out the sound systems and party! wot a place....

Protest was outside Bridewell police station where the Kill the bill riot took place. This protest was against the sentences given to convicted rioters.

The Clifton suspension bridge is worth a visit, right up there with the Transporter for fine engineering, and as mention Clifton has good eateries and a stroll on the Clifton downs is good if weatheris OK. Plan your parking carefully though. Almost nowhere to park in Bristol and expense when you find somewhere.

The centre of Bristol is now a clean air zone, so check your car is compliant.

As said above, Clifton is a lovely area especially the downs and round the suspension bridge.
Out of town, Clevedon is a lovely seaside town with views across the channel to Cardiff bay.
Bath is a nice day out and Chew valley is quite scenic.

If I play my cards right I shall be visiting both Bristols later this evening (Friday night is treat night).

What I like to do when I’m there is put my head between them and go blubber, blubber, blubber.
