Do you see no irony in criticising Peloton on cost as just being a spin bike whilst eyeing up a £4700 bike for yourself?
Sorry, I missed this.
Yes, I would see the irony in that, but without intending to get on a high horse, my point was about the average person, not about myself, I don't earn an average wage.
My issues is I know a couple of people on 20k that have bought peloton bikes, which to me seems a bit silly, especially for the use they get (or don't get). Equally I know loads on 20k that like the idea of them, but won't get one because it's too expensive. I was pointing out some alternatives, that some people are not as aware of.
I fully understand a £4,700 bike is madness to 99% of people, I said so earlier myself
If you apply your own logic you could simply buy various cheaper ones that almost do what you want them to couldn't you?
Yes, that was also my point.
I provided a similar priced alternative to peloton for 3k, which was for a £800 road bike, a £400 mountain bike, a Kickr smart £1,000, two years of zwift (Nov-March) months only, £13 x 10 = £130. 2 years of strava £100 and £500 worth of cycling gear. Same cost, more bases covered. You can still do spinning workouts on this option too. You could even sub out some of that and get a peloton membership?
Someone could do the above with a £300 second hand road bike, £200 second hand hard tail mountain bike, or even a £500 gravely bike or hybrid instead. There's cheaper smart trainer options too, or not even smart trainers and using zwift (or not).
A lot of people are scared of road bikes (I don't advise riding on busy roads unless comfortable) or have never been on one or have never ridden down very basic trail on a mountain bike, as an adult. If they gave it a go and had the right clothing most would really enjoy it, and it gives more options. The clothing is a big factor like, having crap kit can make it awful.
Each to their own though, if people are on decent money and can afford Peloton without much of a dent, and it gets use all year round then great. Any exercise should be encouraged.
