How's Your Dry January Going ?

Great, loving it. Cut out alcohol from after midnight NYE, started the healthier approach on the 4th, 4.6lbs down.

I’ll probably need a new liver before I need a covid jab 👍

Being drunk is great because you don’t really think about anything. I don’t drink on a school night though. I’ll probably do 6 bottles of wine and a pack of 10 beers on my 4 rest days though and I don’t drink on the 4th as I’m back into work the next day.

We had a weigh in at work the other day to see who has put the most weight on and I couldn’t even break into the top 5 🤣 one guy I didn’t even recognise after he walked in from 2 months of furlough and he’s a diabetic 😬

Half a bottle of Mount Gay rum on Saturday. It was the first drink I'd had since boxing day.

God I was rough on Sunday😂

Just makes you think why bother

How are you finding the no carbs? I felt a bit lethargic in the afternoons last week, and had some minor headaches, but seem to have come through that now!

Not bad. Done it before, so knew what to expect. Had a few early nights and not cutting out tea has helped. As you say doesn’t last too long either, last couple of times I’ve done it I’ve had much more energy than usual after a fortnight or so.

Did 10 weeks dry last year and felt great . Had too many pre Xmas so barely touching any this year and feel so much better for it . Alcohol is bloody poison !

Quite enjoying it after a boozy Christmas. Been Zwifting every day and feeling very good.

Not missing the mucky beer at all.

Had a few drinks at the weekend and will continue to do so. Trying not to drink during the working week as working from home it is very easy to be tempted through boredom. Think cutting down instead of cutting out is a more balanced approach to the booze. For the comments about cutting out carbs, when I was diagnosed with T2 Diabetes about 12 years ago, I went on a low carb diet and it helped me lose about three stone so it does work. The problem is staying on that regime and it is also very easy to put weight back on when you start the carbs again. I just eat healthily now as I find it easier and my bloods results are great and I have been able to keep the weight down. Good Luck though 👍

I think what I'm finding good about a lazy keto approach is that when I've been craving something carby I'm happy to replace with something fatty instead. Fancy some bread, have a piece of brie instead. Want something sweet, a spoon of Peanut butter does the trick. It goes against all conventional wisdom we've been brought up with. My mum has been on a constant diet since 1974, with her low fat this and that, so it feels bizarre when I'm munching through a load of pork crackling guilt free.

Just weighed myself, 5lb down in the first week which isn't too bad considering I purposely had half a tin of baked beans the first 4 days so I wouldn't get too much of a sugar crash.

12 nights in and I've had 6 dry nights.
Would like to go the odd weekend without caving in but when Friday night comes around the wine comes out.

Technically not Dry January - I quit altogether mid last year. I'd never gone teetotal before and thought I might struggle with it. I haven't once been tempted to go back to it and as the months go by I feel that the chances of my starting again are becoming less and less.

I have the odd alcohol free beer and that certainly helps

I’ve always liked what Frank Skinner said about giving up.....he said “ People always say....at least you can remember what you did last night” and he says “Yeah......NOTHING”.😀
Although he’s never been as funny since he packed in drinking.
