No plans for 24-hour Covid vaccination centres, says No 10

The only person I know who's had the vaccine got it at the hospital in Redcar.
The point I was making was that the flu jab I got felt very much like a trial run for a mass vaccination. We were told to rock up at the stadium which was laid out with cones to give a snaking queue to four drive through tents, after getting the jab we were asked to rest for 15 minutes in parking bays before driving off. No one else that I have talked to was asked to rest after the flu jab but my Dad was told this after his COVID jab. So I reckon this was a test for mass COVID vaccination.

I had to give my Mrs a course of injections after the birth of both my boys as they were by C section. To stop blood clots I think? Dart throwing motion is how I was told to do it.

Mind the feedback from her on my technique wasn't great, so probably best for all I'm not doing the covid ones.

Probably didn't help that I insisted on shouting "oooone hundred and eeeeighty" after each time.

Anyone can train to be a covid vaccinator, I will be starting next week. I have zero medical experience

That's admirable (y)
I'm tempted to have a go but even though I don't worry about getting vaccinations/needles stuck in myself I'm not sure I could do it to someone else, I'd definitely not want to be my first victim patient.

Does this mean you get the vaccine yourself quicker as you'll be mixing with lots of members of the public close up?
almost certainly I would imagine - the reason I got vaccinated yesterday was because my role requires on-site assessments and training in testing and vaccination centres, so will be in a much higher risk area of work

But equally medical staff, some carers, firemen and police all work 24 hours so the night may be a very opportune time to vaccinate key workers?

Turns out in yet another government u-turn they are considering 24 hour centres for NHS workers on night shifts.

I should make Government policy decisions!

Either I'm a once in a lifetime genius, or they're all incompetent buffoons who react to everything on a daily basis after the fact, rather than setting a logical course, explaining their reasoning and sticking to it.

But that couldn't be could it? That would be insane that people who were grossly incompetent were running a good sized country during an international health crisis, it would be a disaster.

So the only true outcome that the data can present is, I am a once in lifetime genius*.

Get in!

I read yesterday that the reason we don't have 24 hour vaccination centers is because there is no demand. Interestingly enough, this conclusion was reached based on questioning of people going for their vaccination. When asked "When would you like to be vaccinated?" Nobody replied, "2am would be good."

There is a very good argument for having a 2 tier system, with your elderly and vulnerable being vaccinated 9-5 when they can get a lift or use public transport. Then a second tier, between 6pm-6am for people who have underlying conditions or are quite old and are prepared to present at a center in the middle of the night.

I suspect that it is just not having the bodies to administer the vaccination and/or limited supplies at the moment.

Hats off to those voluteers, I couldn't inject someone, I am afraid of needles.

Caesium, when the bar for mensa is the current cabinet, we are all geniuses mate.
