Hungry kids robbed

What if you once had a very good job and so did your Mrs so you had four kids then you and your Mrs both lost your well paid jobs and having paid lots of tax and national insurance over the years you quite rightly thought god where can I get some help?
Mate what well paid job have I got their is always the chance of bad years. I am in heavy industries and yes their is times when work was scarce but I managed these times by not living above my means and savings so would hopefully done the same If we had 4 kids and well paid jobs. Am I ask you a question if you are not working already have a child would you Judy keep having them if you new the welfare state will possibly help with me raising them and if yes do you think that is right

Except you questioned that the lady may have got it wrong and for some reason she omitted the refrigerated items from the photo.
I did question that - correct as I have explained above - I thought that that can’t be right surely, that is not enough food. ( indeed she had got part of it wrong so worth the question don’t you think?) if you want the facts you need to investigate these things so you see who is to blame and correct it.

As it turns out the lady was mostly correct so we now learn that it was Chartwells who were profiteering by failing in their contractual duties.

Nailed it 100 per cent

Its called national insurance.

Its there for emergencies like all insurance. JUst in this case its when you fall on hard TIMES, not when you crash your car or have a ceiling COLLAPSE.

Struggled through reading that. :ROFLMAO:

Borofur wasn't saying you have a well paid job. He was saying hypothetically what if 'a person' had 'a well paid job' and planned for children on that basis, and then for whatever reason lost their well paid job - and on a more long term basis than just being between contracts or similar. Like during a recession for instance? You know, like is happening right now?

I find your whole argument pretty pointless tbh. The vast, vast, vast majority of people aren't having massive families they can't afford. The birth rates been declining for years. You're writing these long posts patting yourself on the back for doing the normal thing everyone else does too.

How did the lady get part of it wrong? She's taken a picture of what she received in their pack.

I've said it before, I like the voucher system they use in Italy which can be used for food and essentials only, not for booze or fags.

Do the tory planks on here really think all parents on benefits just spend money on sky TV and booze and fags? And not on essentials like food, power and housing?

Are they serious??

To receive £5.22 worth of food when the for profit private company had been given £30 for food for 10 meals is just plain theft. Some of these private providers have CEOs on £2m plus salaries

I can understand that they can't provide chilled meals, but where were:

Cans of soup
Packets of rice
Pasta Sauce
Eggs
Tinned Fruit
Custard
Packet of nuts
Tin of Fish
Balti or Curry in a tin
Grapes
Oranges

Wiltshire Farm foods advertise adult chilled meals for around £3.50 a go delivered to your home?

He seems to me working class families are been short changed in many examples of late.

Wouldn't it just be more efficient to give out vouchers for the vast majority of children? I don't believe the stories of lots of parents using the vouchers in crack dens if they are on crack they will struggle to look after their children full stop. Why punish millions for the sake of a tiny group.

Are the private operators going to be punished? i.e fined?

The actual was £10.50 but yes that is still woefully short of that amount. The company have stated this was an error. There are examples which I posted showing parcels that were gratefully received and seemingly more than adequate. Unsure as to why all packages did not go out the same though....

It is already confirmed the voucher scheme will return next week and schools will have the option to continue with the packages or switch to vouchers. I'd always choose the vouchers to be honest. That way you can plan for your own meals/seek out bargains and get the best for your money

I’m not sure what your point is?
This has not been in question? It’s kind of the point of this entire thread!
Unless you are saying it to make sure it’s clear the blame lies with Chartwells and not the Government. I agree with that point, to a degree.
However, the broader issue is that throughout the past year, donors and friends of the Tory party have been profiting from the pandemic and now child poverty, whilst hugely underperforming and under delivering in their responsibilities. And it goes on and on and on.

Companies such as Chartwells...

‘The company is part of the Compass Group. Compass chairman is Paul Walsh who was part of David Cameron’s business advisory group and reported to be a Tory donor.’

Villify the poor why don't you. We don't agree let's leave it at that.

Yes. That's exactly what they think because that's what the Tories and the right wing media tell them to think and they just repeat it without question. "Scruffy" kids, the feckless, immigrants, the sick, the disabled - (they all know "that bloke" down the pub who lives a life of luxury due do a "bad back") .. all the staple of the right wing press and they just soak it all up .. It's all in the Tory handbook of politics: Just repeat soundbites without any substance (posh for "lie through your back teeth") over and over and the gullible, the unthinking and the perputually outraged will just go all red and frothy at the mouth and demand something is done about it .. starve kids, leave the EU, kill the disabled .. you know, that kind of thing.

Sounds realistic
