Welcome to the Brexit sir

I'm a fierce remainer, but is there any wonder there's massive division, and people retreat to the extremes of their respective sides, when both sides use antagonistic and divisive language like this post.
They’ve not retreated to the extremes, they’ve been there all along, and they don’t have the stones to come away from there and admit they were wrong.

They’ve not listened to reason, facts, economists, business owners or experts for 4 years, sometimes people need to be told they were wrong (repeatedly) to finally get the picture that everyone’s opinion does not carry the same credibility. This is proven as next to none of them either realise or admit they were wrong or duped. The “deal” is nothing like what they campaigned for or voted for, so in theory there should be no division, as everyone should be agreeing we’ve dropped ourself in the crap.

Another well educated & thought out reply & comment,, wish I was as clever, but I'm better than that & will bow to your superior knowledge 😉
You’re not better, nobody that voted for this mess is either, no matter how well mannered, but at least you’re polite 👍

From my personal experience there’s still a big racism problem in the UK, but one side won’t acknowledge it. My opinion is that it greatly influenced people’s votes, more than the margin of the vote difference. Anyone can deny it, but I see and hear it literally every work day.

Do you think you’re better than anyone who voted leave.

Not sure that's entirely the case, if I'm included as one of those ganging up on him/bored of his tedious thread topics. I'm very much a remainer, as is he, I just didn't vote for the only real party whose primary manifesto action was to push it through. It's difficult to take him seriously because his history of opinion is so flawed against his ongoing Brexit obsession
People are entitled to vote for who they like, just like the brexit lot who either got it wrong or were voting for something not based on policy, but based on a dislike of immigrants. I’ve no idea what party he voted for in the last few elections, I’m not bothered to be honest, but I don’t know what seat he was voting for either, he might have known it was not going to make zero difference.
Not all Tories wanted hard Brexit, same as not all Labour voters wanted JC in change. But sometimes people can vote for something which more suits their view as a whole, even though one part of it massively goes against what they want, it’s all about the weighting I suppose.

Agree with all of that in principle, but to be such an ardent remainer, but then vote Tory lacks substance in my view, and then to bang on about Brexit incessantly, showing a fair amount of vitriol to pro Brexit voters, is tedious. What should I expect though from someone who says he doesn't really have any interest in football, but spends an awful lot of time on a message board whose baseline is football

No, nobody is “better” than anyone in the context you seem to mean, and I wouldn’t claim to be.

People do have strong points though, and mine is analysis and numbers, which has led to me being a top 1% earner in the North because of that, which kinds of backs that up. Voting Tory would help my pocket but I don’t do it, and brexit won’t likely impact me to a noticeable amount, yet I find it annoying when I vote Labour and Remain, to help those worse off (like my area and my staff), and they go and do the opposite. Even in one of the companies I run, the entire labour force voted leave, despite me telling them it would be bad for them (as their employer), they didn’t even realise 75% of the companies we work for are EU based or owned.

Yeah, I didn’t say it was ideal, hopefully he regrets voting Tory, if he did, or it was in a wasted seat.

I see this just as much as a teesside forum to be honest, so not fussed about anyone’s opinion on football, it’s been hard to retain interest before this year and even that’s been hard with not going to games or watching on tv with crowds.

Fair point about it being as much a Teesside forum 👍the area doesn't suit his "lifestyle" though

Keep going SmallTown, I like it, I'll back you up more in a few months when Covid recedes a bit.

You've just got the old gammons triggered, so they're trying to gang up on you, they were wrong (or racist), they won't admit it, so now they're crying at it being repeatedly pointed out, absolute snowflakes.

If some of the brexshiter's just admitted they were duped then I could feel some sympathy for them, but there's more chance of Turkey joining the EU.
What do you make of small town voting for the get brexit done party?

Well Statto, lets just be grateful that you're not, condescending, arrogant and conceited, otherwise your posts would be unbearable ;)

Just pointing out the facts, and what I see on a day to day basis (which you may not), and there’s nothing wrong with being correct or having confidence in your ability, if that can be backed up. If you see that any other way, that’s fine.

Even though I’m skilled in certain areas, which are quite relevant, I’m not daft enough to think I knew better than the experts, yet a massive part of the population did, it’s lunacy.

Like I say on any topic, trust the numbers (the raw numbers), check the sources, trust the experts, ideally independent ones and try and base on a wide consensus. But above all, realise that all opinions do not carry the same weight.

I wonder how the northern Irish feel about their empty shelves you pack of ignorant numpties or maybe the Scottish fishermen losing 1m a week because of red tape to export their seafood which will be a dead business in probably less than 12 weeks time.
Got control of our waters though haven’t we boys ?
Just no effing market to sell to as the french et al will look away to alternatives because our deal doesn’t work

Your an embarrassment. Anyone who isn’t cringing at the chaos these Tory chunts have created for this country

Yep I think I got it wrong 1st time

Incredible statto
People of this country though are predominantly unconscious racists (like my parents) or just not able to think clearly and follow the general consensus or feeling/trends
That’s what Cummings (vvanker) tapped into with too many easily manipulated people
So so sad....

Erimus
You’re clearly a lovely fella
I know lots of leave voters and I like them as people
But the harsh truth is what it is....to say anything else would be misleading and letting folk off the hook

I do completely regret it. I've been over this ground before. Doesn't stop people like artie and zorro bringing it up at every post. The latter surprises me, the former not so much as he loves the "personal touch" when it comes to his harassment of me.

Luckily for me my vote had no effect as Labour won in my constituency. That doesn't excuse the mistake or cover up the fact that it was a massive mistake. The only thing that saddens me is people like artie are more obsessed with personal slights than discussion with me. Therefore it's easier, and they prefer, to ignore whatever it is I said and just insult me rather than discuss things.
Sadly it's just one of those things I have to put up with. It's not as bad as having to live with voting Tory at the last election but I'm doing all I can to correct that error.
If I'm honest I wish that constant "yes but you voted Tory END OF" would stop and people would discuss the topic instead. I know for a fact Artie isn't interested in such discourse though and he's happy with the insults and attacks.
