Yorkshire, sorry England having a excellent first day, bowled them out for 135 ,currently 105/2 two Yorkshire lads steady the ship after losing two early wickets , 5for for Dom Bess

Rooty's 'conversion rate' will no doubt be getting discussed tomorrow morning at some point, whichever way it goes.:)

Rightly so as well. 50 fifties and 17 hundreds is quite remarkable. Safe assumption that the first fifty is more difficult to score than the second one, other factors not withstanding.

I have not seen a batting performance as pitiful as Sri Lanka's effort for a long time. 2-0 to England by far the most likely score line, probably without too much fuss either. I still think we only need to play 2 quicks, if we don't have an adequate third spinner then play another batsman.

Can see why they went for Curran though, he's kind of a balanced choice.

When I saw the team I was thinking, no need for Broad to play! I'd have gone Curran, the nibbly swinger who bats and the quick guy for when nothing else is working in Wood. Shows what I know

Forgot this was on this morning been too flipping wrapped up in the Aussie India series. Anyway managed to listen to TMS from mid morning (a perk of working from home) and heard Simon Mann (I think) asking Andy Zaltzman if the following had ever happened before in a test match

England's leading run scorer in the side bats at number 4, the second leading scorer bats at 3, the third leading run scorer is batting at 11.

I love TMS

Woakes would have played I think if not isolating, probably instead of Sam. Also a solid #7 and decent third quickie.

Hmm that's an interesting one, but I'd have thought Broad's minor resurgence with the bat might have him batting higher than 11 in this innings?

I'd completely forgotten this was starting today until I turned on the radio and heard the news. A pleasant surprise to wake up and hear England have done well overnight.

Just watching the Aus v India deciding test on TV. Australia haven’t lost in Brisbane since 1988. That’s 31 test matches at the Gabba. Some record that.

India are injury ravaged too and can’t fly out replacements. Had them this morning at 17-2 but guess who has come in to rally them. Yes Smith and Labuschagne. Identikit style of batting.

Think I also heard that the have never lost there when scoring 300 or more in the first innings.
