Kane doesn't turn up for training

Has anyone (City) even bid? I doubt he's just downed tools. He doesn't seem the type.

The thing with Levy is that he won't be bullied. He will have given City a price and won't budge. This could go on until the final day of the window.

The best part is that city play spurs on the opening day 😂

Didn't Ferguson say he enjoyed getting a hip replacement more than trying to negotiate a transfer with Levy.

I'm torn on this, on one hand he signed a contract and should honour it. On the other Spurs tried to unsettle Downing from us once, what goes around comes around.

apart from when he was battering DJ's for not playing Lionel Richie (I know he was cleared), he was certainly not whiter than white.

Oh yeah he definitely wasn’t whiter than white.

But unless I’ve forgotten some things I think this was his only moment of poor behaviour. Which isn’t too bad for a competitive working class man who spent 20 years in the spotlight in a tough working class city.

I’d imagine a large portion of us have had a bit of a scuffle in our younger years after a few drinks.

He was definitely far better behaved than the likes of perma turds Barton, King, Giggs etc

Sources closer to Spurs than Fabrizio and Skysports suggest he's waiting to hear back from a negative covid test and should report into training tomorrow if the test is negative.

Sounds like Skysports spouting horse cr@p as usual.
Turns out it's true. Well who'd have thought it?

It's always interesting this - I don't begrudge Kane forcing through his move, when he's made it very very publicly clear for months that he's going to move, in the same way I don't begrudge Levy demanding blood from the proverbial stones for the most prized asset he's ever had at Spurs.

I think the more one party plays hardball, the more the other one will too. It's sad in a way as it will affect his legacy at Spurs, I bet some fans are spitting feathers about it, but it's all just a negotiation.

Of course he has a contract that he willingly signed. But, you can also imagine the contract talks went something like, "Come on Harry, of course we'll let you go to City, but if you really loved Spurs you'd sign a five year deal now so we can get the maximum transfer fee for you", as you make far more money on a player who's got four years left as opposed to 12 months.

Levy's right to play serious hardball, he's doing what he thinks is best for the club. And he gets to make Kane out to be the villain. Kane's right to do the same, he's 27 so this is his window for a big move, he has been a magnificent player for them and very loyal, has been quite straightforward, and signed a long contract so Spurs could get a big fee.

One thing, playing brinkmanship until the last couple of hours of the transfer window like Levy is wont to do might seem good on the balance sheet, but doesn't leave you much time to get replacement deals through - I know these things work in tandem but it's a bit of a house of cards. If they're planning something like what they did with Bale when they replaced him with six crap players and Christian Eriksen, there's a lot that can go wrong if you leave it all until the very last second. At the same time, if they sold Kane today, every other club's asking price for players to Spurs would go up by 20 million, because they know Spurs have got 120-150 million in the bank. It's all fun and games.

From what I've read the rumour was started by a couple of spurs fans on twitter.

Kane doesn't strike me as the type of guy to force a move through by acting unprofessionally by not turning up for training without a genuine reason.

I think players should and do hold the ace card on transfers, as long clubs are compensated for a players early release from contracts.

The whole transfer system needs an overhaul, with transfer fees scrapped, although it most likely won't happen because when do you draw the line; many players would automatically be devalued overnight. Bosman was a big step in the right direction, but it still needs to go further.

In Kane's case he is obviously under a long term contract, but the trade off for Spurs is that they are then entitled to ask for a higher transfer fee. I hope he is allowed to leave, but Levy is a notorious negotiator and ultimately players may take this into account when thinking about signing for Spurs.
