Get in 🇦🇷 the kid is going to be special

I thought he is an 8 mostly that can play10, but that was based on his Olympic matches and what Warnock said. We will have to wait and see how he is used i guess
We'll maybe convert him into a top drawer centre half.

Watching him in the Olympic and he stood out for me.

Strong in tackle
An eye for goal
A great long shot
and he has the dark arts as well

Plus he has great close control and a fighting spark.

finally a central attacking mf

a genuine no 10 🇦🇷
Genuinely exciting signing.

From the bits I've seen he plays like a slow Stevie G.

Can't wait to see him play.

I was wondering what Tim Vickery made of him. It's positive that he rates him.
I remember one day listing to Talksport and they asked him about Carlos De Pena. He basically said 'who?'. The talksport guy said 'just signed for Boro'.

Didn't know anything about him. I thought as a South American football expert that's a bad start😂

Yes I do but his big issue was his lack of physicality he was bullied too much in the England game as he was just a reserve in Argentina. This lad has played senior football for his team he’s just represented his nation at the olympics and he’s a tough b***r as we saw in his Olympic clashes.

totally different players.

but hey if you want to be negative.
Yes, you can always be false positive.

I hope people don't expect him to be a world beater from the off.

We know how people can write a player off before they've signed never mind a few weeks (I did with Bolasie 😂).

He's young and in a new league / country and playing style. That's without the lingo barrier. It's not like we are stacked with South Americans to make him feel at home (no stuani type BBQs). I imagine he may have a few things to get used to like holding onto the ball too long or maybe even going down a bit easy.

I genuinely think it could take months to get him fully up to speed. Just hope folk ain't saying on here 'he's sh*t' after 3 sub appearances.

Agree with this, it can take a year for players from another continent to properly settle and produce their best.

However, I'm hopeful that even at say 70% 'still settling in' levels of effectiveness, given his pedigree he'll be better than what we have already and he can make an impact. Then there might be an even bigger leap forward in performances after he's got his feet under the table.......Listen to me, I'm letting the excitement go to my head already 🤣

Still, if you can't be excited and optimistic in pre-season, when can you be?!

Never thought of Marinelli being lacking in physicality. I'm sure he was 6ft tall. Just a bit of dicky dancer who flattered to deceive.

This Payero lad looks like he can dig a bit so 🤞he will adapt quickly.

Different levels too - we were in the PL with Marinelli. I imagine he’d have been pretty handy in the champo.
