Nick Cave in Stockton

Set list for Edinburgh - at £40 in the Globe I was nearly tempted but having seen that I'm sticking with Scritti Politti at the Sage.

Yes its ATG at the Globe same as Sunderland Empire.

That looks a good setlist but as I said earlier I have tickets for Tom Robinson and those I am going with probably not N.C fans. So bearing in mind whatever I paid for N.C I would have the added cost of T.R ticket already bought.

Absolutely incredible last night as expected. Set was obviously heavy on the last couple of albums but they resonated with an intensity and power that packed a real punch. Cave left everything on the stage.

White Elephant, Hollywood and I Need You stood out for me.

Off to see him twice with the Bad Seeds next year, cannot wait.

Likewise ... though if the unimaginable happened and it was indeed Waits instead of Cave ... the prices would be probably double what people are paying to see Cave at The Globe :ROFLMAO: .. his shows certainly don't come cheap, do they it seems .. anyone on here lucky enough to have seen Waits before??

If there was only one ever more gig I could choose from to get to see, it would be the man himself, Waits.

Don't hear much from the guy these days apart from acting so doubt I'll ever get to see the guy ... would love to know what he's been up to .. something as smart as the last instalment Bad As Me would be perfect. The last new song I heard from him was 'One Last Look' which he played for his friend Letterman during one of the last Letterman shows. Was perfect and very apt for his friend, moving stuff.

I really don't want to miss Cave at the Globe .. such a coup for the area, huge stuff .. but expected the tickets would sell out in seconds... guess they more or less did. So very doubtful I'll be in attendance I'd imagine unless come near the time I come across a ticket anyone may be selling for not an outrageous fee haha. Have a friend who has an important job at the place he just moved to so doubt I could even wangle a ticket on the sly held by ... he can't even manage to get one himself by the looks! haha
I would love to see Tom Waits play. I think he is the only artist I would pay 'daft money' to see.

Finally bit the bullet and bought a ticket for tonight's show in Sheffield. Can't wait. Setlist heavy on the last two albums but I imagine they'll be performed impeccably (they always seem to be with him).

Seems Ticketmaster's dynamic pricing has been introduced in the UK as well by the way - pretty sure the seats I bought were originally 90 odd quid when I checked on the day of release, £42 last night (y)
I didn't realise that dynamic pricing was a thing with those rip off merchants Ticketmaster. I am being naive, or can that only be a good thing for many gigs and events?

It’s not good for people who bought at the original price in good faith.

We bought tickets at £65 plus about £7 per ticket for fees. Now the same seats are £41.

But of a sickener. Maybe it will open their eyes and they will price events more realistically in future.

But you learn your lesson. In future we will wait and risk missing out rather than paying over the odds.

That's a very good point.
I had not taken the early purchasers into account.

Going to see him at the sage tonight - how long was he on for?

Was around 2 hours I think. Started around 20:15 and we were back in the pub for 22:30.

No support.

Double check the timings as well - Sheffield City Hall helpfully put tweets out stating it was starting at 19:00 and 20:00 :)

EDIT: The bar also closed at 21:00 last night, roughly half way through. First time I've seen this anywhere (assume Sheffield policy and not Nick Cave's) but might be worth asking tonight....

Why were the tickets cheaper?

Presumably because they can't sell them. I did ask The Globe but so far they have declined to reply.
They aren’t exactly easy to get hold of. Their ticketing seems to be managed by a 3rd party and we couldn’t find any direct contact details.

The missus sent a message via intergram or some such social media thing. No response.

There were even higher cost tickets dropped to £41 quid.

They are easy to get - straight off the Globe web site.

They seem to have sold quite a few since dropping the price - as commented previously in the thread - it's hard to understand how they can justify dropping the price. I know several people who bought tickets at £60 who are somewhat peeved that they are now selling the same seats for £40

I think the contact details on the Globe site are for ATG tickets rather than the theatre itself.

Aren’t ATG just a 3rd party ticketing agency like Ticketmaster? So if we called them about the pricing I guess they’d say that’s not their decision.

I don’t see contact details to speak to someone at the theatre.

Anyway, it is what it is I guess. You live and learn.

Saw Nick Cave last night at the sage. First time I've seen him so was a thrill just to see the man perform. Lasted approx 2 hours. Performed songs from Carnage and Ghosteen mostly. He was on top form.

Sorry - I misread your post, I thought you couldn't find ticket link!

There's an email and phone number on the website contact but who they actually get you through to is anyone's guess.

I went down the Facebook route of trying to contact them but as with anything contentious they'll just ignore it. If I messaged and said I wanted to spend money on something but didn't know how they'd reply in a shot.

Legally, I think it might depend whether they mention dynamic pricing when buying tickets (I know ticketmaster have a pop up when you first view the event).

Think this will get much more common in future, the art will be timing your purchase correctly. As ever though it ultimately boils down to how much you're willing to pay for something.

I was toying with going to see The Waterboys but didn't really fancy paying £43 to see them. Looking at the Globe web site ticket link there's hundreds of tickets left for the show which is just over 2 weeks away now. It will be interesting to see if those prices drop as well.

Saw Nick Cave and Warren Ellis at the Globe last night. They were excellent. Most I've ever paid to see a band but it was a special occasion in the newly opened Globe.
Parking was easy and free in the Wellington Square Centre. Short walk round the corner. Nice to see the nearby pubs busy with people having drinks before going in.
He had a good crack with the stockton audience throughout and played a couple of extra songs at the end compared to reviews of other venues.
His encore performance of Breathless with Ellis on the flute was outstanding and worth the money alone.

Glad it went well - I am, well was now I guess, a massive Nick Cave fan but his latter stuff does nothing for me. Getting artists of his stature to play though can only be good for the venue and the area.

Shame some people had to pay more money for inferior seats than others paid for though but that's a venue issue, nothing to do with NC.

Ditto. The greatest compliment I can offer is that I didn't want to kill Warren Ellis after the show. Now I'm looking forward to hearing The Bad Seeds get their hands on a couple of these songs. It seems Nick Cave can't avoid rocking at some point.
