Self-obsessed and not very bright- Boro council

I read that article as..."complaints cost time and money and people need to stop"...followed by... if you're not happy with what is going on put in a complaint"

should do a thorough investigation and if turns out one or two are playing political games they should be sacked. If they are genuine complaints then the issues should be dealt with accordingly.

I see no lies. Middlesbrough always has been a political vehicle for self indulgence of those in the chair.

"But Preston is dodgy, he tells lies, he's too Tory" - I couldn't give 2 hoots. He's doing positive things for the town that predecessors never have.

I also don't care that Tory MP's are in the majority across Teesside. The fact they are means more is getting spent and invested here and I'm all for that. Government are a joke, but I want what's best for Teesside and if we have to shake hands with the devil to get it, then I will.

That's a really selfish attitude and not at all democratic.

The area you live in is denied development money because it doesn't vote for the party of government?

That sort of autocratic behaviour leads to one party states.

All you've done is fall for the lies.

They've massively cut government spending in areas like Teesside.

It's a bit like brexit, you can promise the earth and years later no one remembers what you promised or delivered but they are convinced it's getting better.
I can't see much that the mayor has delivered

Aside from what I or anyone else's opinion of Preston is, he's absolutely right in his comments about local councillors.

I speak as someone someone who has had first had experience of councillors across Teesside and the same applies right across the region - too many lack intelligence, are driven by vanity and, in too many cases, are corrupt.

In terms of Middlesbrough the issues with some have been regularly reported in the local media, including the most recent court case where a Councillor was convicted of defrauding MBC.

It's good to see Preston has the courage to call the issues out, many wouldn't.

The area I live in always has been denied development money for that very reason. The fact it’s now receiving it is something to be happy about.

We’ve been left to rot for years, and however long or short this investment might continue is irrelevant, it’s still investment.

I live on Teesside, and want what’s best for the area. How is that selfish after years of being left behind?

Granted I may not be aware of everything. But what I can see with my own eyes are things happening that haven’t for generations locally.

The government spending you refer to I’m guessing is funding to local authorities which is fair enough, but only a third of their funding comes from central government so while unhelpful, the wider investment in the good things happening locally could potentially provide a brighter future for our kids and grandkids.

You say fell for the lies, I’d call it looking at the bigger picture.
