In praise of EV'S

Some days I like it (the model 3), some days I don't, but I'm not a fan of the looks of the Model S, X or Y to be honest. As a car though, for performance and tech, they post incredible numbers.

The Evija is mental, but mental cost too, but I wish they would do an electric Emira, that car looks incredible for the cost. I would even contemplate going back to ICE for that, it looks a steal for 60k. When I first saw it I was expecting it to be 150k

The Zoe looks like a Fly to me, but I suppose for what it is, most cars in that class don't look all that great. But thinking about it, they're only about 2-5k less than an ID3, and the same price as a Mini EV, so I know what I would pick there.
I had an early lotus elise for 3 days on a test drive, it was awful. Really uncomfortable for any length of time. Drove like a dream mind.

Fair points. And in the defence of my car. From side on the front wing does look nice. But it's only certain angles. And from the front it looks so ungainly
The front is quite good I think, and the side front, it's the mid to back I'm not keen on, but I understand why they've done it (aerodynamics). They're still a very good choice as you get a lot of spec for the money, and they're incredibly efficient for their class/ performance.

Not sure on the interior, with no dash so to speak, I've seen loads but still not sat in one yet. I think I'd want a HUD if the dash was so minimalistic, especially if it's so easy to speed 😬

I'd be tempted by an old Elise for my "garage" car! Just a bit of Sunday fun, couldn't hack it for a daily driver. They're like little go karts.

The no dash thing looks interesting. After 14000 miles of driving I can tell you though it gets really boring really quickly. People say its a minimalist interior. It isn't. A Polestar 2 is minimalist. A Tesla model 3 is spartan. Entirely lacking in features

They murder your back. Great as a trackday car, nothing else. I asked the dealer to pick it up on the last day as I couldn't get in the bloody thing my back was so sore.

They're teasing people in to driverless cars, where there's nothing, no steering wheel or anything, just a flat dash of nothing, people are going to flip

"Yeah, the one I maybe really want doesn't exist yet, but who knows"

Fair enough. I'm happy to leave it at that you might possibly think I'm jealous and I possibly think that you're never satisfied for long and generally want the new/latest/more expensive model.

After all, it's all about opinions.

I would like in the near future to move to an EV, but there are a few things I've been pondering. A lot of houses have 2 or more cars (mum, dad, kids etc.), so how would the house electrics cope with them all charging overnight? Also, currently my kids pay for their own fuel. I assume once we all go electric that will be another 'loan' from the bank of mum and dad for the electricity.

I heard an interesting comment from someone who works in the power industry over the weekend. Apparently the energy companies are now pushing the regulator to abolish off peak tariffs. Such is the demand from programmable appliances and rising EV numbers.

You don’t have to charge every night. Probably best to cycle the two cars. Optimal is to plug them both in so in that case the cost would be twice as much!
Of course you only pay when you’re charging which, given the average journey in this country is about 4 miles, won’t be often
