Womans football

Just because someone has no interest in women's football it doesn't make them a "misogynist old git"
I fully agree. I've tried to watch it 3 or 4 times and generally turn off after 10 mins (that includes world Cup games).

I simply can't get into it. Then again I'd never watch an SPL game despite loving most things football. The one thing I will say is that it has a market and if its creating female roll models for young girls then fair enough.

I'm very much in the camp of 'if you don't like it then don't watch it'. I don't and I don't . I won't look to slag it off like many do.

I'm definitely not an 'misogynist old git'.... Well I'm one of those things as in feeling old😂. I found myself often watching the female hundred cricket matches. So definitely don't have an issue with women in sport.

I simply don't watch it. I probably never will.

It's no such thing.

I don't like Grand Prix racing either so what does that make me?
It really is. It's a depressing line of (presumably) old white men complaining about something taking us towards equality

Integrating players isnt the way , we dont put male sprinters into the Womens team to make the Athletics better . Silly point for you to make
Calm down straw man, I've not said put male sprinters into the women's football or spint teams. Also, who said it would make it better for the mens game? It probably wouldn't have much effect good or bad, but it could help the womens game progress and might make the top women realise they can't compete anywhere near the top levels of the mens game. It could also make the womes game worse as the better players leave.

A professional woman sprinter would be quicker than most mens footballers though.

I've said we could put some female players into the mens game, if they're good enough. The chances are they aren't, certainly not for the top levels.

Also, I explained in my post that there's a long, long, long way to go before there is enough demand, to mean there could be anywhere near the same earnings parity, which is what this is all about.

Effectively letting a few women into the mens game, might make them realise then can only get to conference level standard, and hence a tiny minority would get the same pay as mens conference players, which is again tiny compared to top levels.

The thing is the reason why you don't watch it is probably because the standard is lower, not because it's women's football, same for the SPL, it's dire and most of the teams are way below Championship level. If Boro were in league 2 we would have a quarter of our fans turn up at games.

I wouldn't watch Northern League, Conference or even League 2 men's football standard, whether that was men or women playing at that men's standard. People like to watch top level sports.

I've no idea what level the average top women are, but I bet it's a good 4-5 leagues below, for now, not many sky subscriptions are going to pay for the level of football, no matter who is playing.

Billingham Town have kicked off an under 15s girl team and it's proving popular, and successful. Boro Ladies use the ground too and fans along to support. Fair play to them. I hope the women's game continues to thrive.

I think one of the reasons why we're seeing so much on the TV is because it's cheap to screen compared to men's league football.

Are there many misogynists who do like women's football?

I would say that lack of interest is understandable, being keen to rubbish it and dismiss it, less so.
Fair point but I for one haven't rubbished it - I simply have no interest in it.

I've given you the benefit of the doubt previously but you're clearly just searching for responses and aren't capable of answering the question I asked - goodbye.

I didn’t think it worthy of a response because it was such a weak “argument” so I didn’t humour it. But if you’re going to whine about that:

here goes: there are plenty of f1 threads but not one of them is a pile on of old man screaming how much they hate it. There’s definite misogyny and extremely out of date thinking running through this thread

Strangely enough, I was flicking through the BBC football fixtures last night, Hartlepool were playing and I thought I'd have a look at their team and updates being made. I wasn't able to for both lower leagues but I could find out how Real Madrid women were doing at Beideblik.

I noticed that aswell, no info on the matches from leagues 1 and 2 but women's games were covered. I look around the Riverside and it's 95% attended by males. I don't think sitting in cold stadiums in the middle of Winter appeals to women. It's more the social side and the pints before the match that keep attendances up in the men's game.

It's habit and being tied to one particularly club that keeps the crowd going, despite some poor football being played and a diminishing top flight as a competition.

Women's crowds are increasing, their attendees having a lot more women throughout the winter.

The men's game didn't kick off with big stadia, it took a long time and now stadia and crowds are smaller for most league clubs, ours included.

I've no idea why BBC didn't have online updates for the two lower divisions last night. They will have had people there covering the games.

Unless something has changed dramatically in the last 10 years then this isn't true. We used to have the highest ratio of women at matches
