ITV confirmation Number Ten partied whilst the rest of us locked down.

To be honest as shocking as this is ( but is anyone that shocked) the most damning thing was an admission from his then adviser ( Cummins) that when asked about the virus the prime minister remarked ( and was heard by multiple sources) as saying let the bodies pile high.

if this wasn’t enough to bring him down then what chance has this the latest scandal got.

I had exactly the same thought. If you can say things like that and STILL get people to vote for you, you can get away with pretty much anything.

It was never denied either and as I said it was backed up by multiple sources.
It wasn't directly denied but it was never acknowledged either. That does make a difference in how the story is reported. There is no other way for this incident to be reported. The government are laughing at their voters.

The phrase let covid rip through the population is disengenuous. Randy hasn't said that and not have I. See my response to dooderooni post.
Randy was arguing against lockdowns and using the fact cancer referrals are down as an argument against them, im just pointing out this wasnt an impact of lockdown. If we didnt go into lockdown this would have been significantly worse.

I agree with your post to an extent, but Sweden isnt comparable to the UK, they have far worse death statistics than neighbouring countries suggesting they didnt take the right approach

BoroMart I am not going to start one-upmanship here. I am sorry it was so bad for you. I and my family have our own story to tell,as do other families on both sides of the argument.
I'm not going for one upsmanship, I'm simply showing that your view was myopic and incomplete. I'm not arguing that lockdown has been crap for many people, but the opposite of lockdown at that time was masses more deaths with an overwhlemed health service, that can't be ignored.

Forcing an apology from someone like Boris Johnson is much stronger than asking for resignations.

It would humiliate him.
he will never apologise, he will obfuscate, deflect.....and that ultimately will resonate with more and more people. The moderates in society.

He wouldn't ever resign anyway, he'd throw a colleague under a bus first, he'll only leave when Tory HQ force him out, like with Thatcher

The problem is that labour have let this cabal off the hook time and time again as kier and co really should be romping home in the polls given what has happened but as we know this is just not happening.

Why do you think cancer referrals are down? And do you think this would have improved by letting Covid rip through the population with no restrictions taking up even more nhs resources?

Loads of medical procedures were missed because hospitals didn’t have capacity to cope with many things other than Covid, this isn’t a result of lockdown, infact lockdown stopped this being considerably worse
It was reported in various news sources a few weeks back JM.

Law of averages doesn't bode well for the workload for cancer specialists in the coming months and years.

In a fairer society yes, they should be miles ahead. The problem is the deck is stacked against them as the Tories own the majority of the media, are prepared to break parliamentary standards without any recourse, and the whole brexit thing has created entrenchment.

It's a long road back for many who voted Tory last time, simply because the press turned them so vehemently and illogically against Labour.

as the Tories own the majority of the media,
That’s just crap as even in this so called Tory media stories are still getting out is Peston a Tory stooge then ???

the fact is labour are perceived still by large awaited of the country as unfit to govern.

this needs to change.

I assume that was a reply to me Card Cheat? If that is so, then first of all, of course your parents lives are as valuable as anyone elses. We have, most of us, lost a parent. That isn't what I said. I wasn't comparing the value of a life. But, if we had to do that, then the years lost don't stack up. That is an unfortunate fact.

If we loose a generation of education, and that is where we are heading, how do we, as a species recover from that?

I get that this is emotive to you, but it's also emotive for we parents who have had to nurse our children through this pandemic and explain why they can't go to school, explain why they can't see their friends. My daughter had just turned 8 when this started, she is 10 now and still can't see a way through this. She believes her life is lost already.

Try and be a little bit empathetic for our children who don't understand what is going on.

So let me get this right. You suggest children having to receive education remotely for a relatively short period of time is worse than peoples loved ones dying. People often still in the prime of life. Dying completely on their own because their families cant be there due to covid restrictions.
But kids not physically being in school to have their lessons for a few months is worse?
And it's me that needs more empathy? Jesus wept.

These stories are "getting out" for a reason.

Every single time a scandal has developed it gets been brushed under the rug by the media, even now there are media and "journalists" trying to bury this one.

Expect a deluge of anti immigration and Brexit rhetoric soon.
