ITV confirmation Number Ten partied whilst the rest of us locked down.

Nope. I missed out on a year of my, and my familys life because of the restrictions, refuse to do it again. Life is way too short.

You should try it, turn off your TV and embrace life. Spend less time on social media.
A lot assumptions made eh

Once again, not a single preventative measure was put in place before the first lockdown. No working from home, no mask mandate, no social distancing. After the first kickdown masks were still not mandated.
I absolutely agree the government got this utterly wrong and I still don't get why masks become a political statement from teh tories.

To claim that without lockdowns we would have suffered more ignores the other responses that were available to us.
It doesn't because, those lockdowns were necessary due to government failures. We aggressively agree that lockdowns wouldn't be necessary if the government had a holistic and strategy approach, but they didn't so lockdowns were at that point the only option left.

Oh look at me I didn’t wear a mask, because I only care about myself
A lot of assumptions there also!

I actually care a hell of a lot about my family.

My daughter missed out on her last year of secondary school, it messed with her head. She had real anxiety issues. Lasted less than a week in college.

She was petrified she was going get covid and die. Scared to visit her grand parents in case she killed them.
She became a recluse for over a year in her bedroom.

We took the decision last year to carry on as normal.

My daughter no longer reads or listens to the news about covid.

She has met her grandparents and started a job. She got covid, had very mild symptoms and survived. Things are looking up for her.

Maybe in one or two years time when new restrictions come in again because of yet another variant, like Omicron, that gives you the same symptoms as a common cold, you may also say to yourself, no thanks, enough is enough.

what has happened in the last two months with the usual Tory stooge around here, they seem strangely absent even big Tory fanboys like FatCat have gone quiet.
See even THEY know. Even the extreme shills know to keep quiet as corruption and lie and law breaking event after event piles up on top of each other like the worst sewage heap in history.

moot point really though because they’ll still vote for them, no matter how badly they abuse the citizens of this country

He's started to lose the support of his MPs now. Had a few categorically say that he was lying.

He's just denied there was a party again at PMQs so it could get interesting if people who don't like him have been keeping extra information back.

Why do you think a "mild" variant would trigger any measures?

Your reaction is rather panicky. As I said on another thread, Omicron might well be our way out. Early medical analysis from South Africa shows it to be very infectious but giving mild symptoms and then offering good immunity to other variants. It almost appears to be a natural vaccine. This has happened with previous virus outbreaks. But it is too early to say, so I think caution is merited. So instead of urging people to drop what are quite minor inconveniences (mask wearing on public transport, vaccination, etc.) perhaps we just need to show a bit of backbone and let the boffins do the boffining.

I’m still here don’t worry.

despicable behaviours from the Tories and the leak from Rees Mogg would be offensive to anyone. I’m sure a lot of heads will roll for this and rightly so. I’m a strong believer in following the covid rules (rightly or wrongly) so when the leading party make a mockery of them in this way they make a mockery of those following the rules, to joke about it is morally offensive especially given the horrors some families have faced.

I get a bit perplexed by the title of the thread “whilst the rest of us locked down” let’s be honest there are two types of people in this world those that follow the rules and those that don’t - and let’s not pretend it’s the minority that don’t. I’m sure they are many on this board who had Christmas drinks with work colleagues. It doesn’t excuse the conservatives doing what they did but save me the faux outrage and double standards. There were people on this board saying that they were doing what they liked for Christmas last year and stuff everyone else - I note at least one of them now ironically contributing to this thread.

with regard my absence I try to stay away from the political threads as there is little logic - I saw one the other day one poster blaming a specific party for the drug taking - at that point with that sort of blind bias I know there is no point using up energy to debate things of apolitical nature on here.

We're not a million miles apart.

Dominic Cummings now stating there was a party 9n Friday 13th November amongst others. Could there be even more allegations coming? Johnson is becoming more and more unhinged with each new revelation and surely there has to come a point soon where his postion as PM becomes untenable?

Contributing to political threads in the past never seemed to phase you.

I wonder what the real reason is why you don't anymore 🤔
