How much does it mean to you?
Worth going to war for and risking Nuclear Oblivion?
I live in North Yorkshire not too far from Catterick Garrison which after London would be second on the list.
I don't want to die.

Did anyone really believe that Putin wouldn't use the pipeline as a bargaining tool for extra appeasement? Merkel and her tools in the EU/US have really a lot to answer for in believing that the original pipeline agreement would be upheld by Putin. Will Putin march into Ukraine? Maybe not -- I mean why would he do it when he can take the west out with Cyber hacks. We'll wait and see.

It’s a bit more dramatic then interfering in our Brexit vote. No less damaging to the targeted nation though

Biden is talking tough now, Putin will try to back down gracefully.

Putin doesn’t back down gracefully. He’ll need to be thrown a bone that he can spin as some kind of victory.

Then again, what’s to stop him pushing it to the brink again if it works? Very dangerous line between appeasement and aggression.

Bluddy hell being a bit melodramatic aren’t we?
Not really.
Things can escalate quickly. On one side you have the head of the biggest mafia in the world and on the other you have an old man that deosn't know his **** from his elbow.

I've no doubt the 'West' would eventually wipe out Russia's conventional military but at massive human cost and once the big Bear is backed into a corner who know's what they'll do.

I see where Putin is though, Ukraine's membership puts NATO on Russia's border.
IMO just confirm they won't be given membership, that's what he wants.

why on earth would 1) we go to war and 2) London and Catterick be targets?

1) Thats the question. I guess you don't think it's worth defending?
2) London the centre of the UK, Catterick the largest military camp in Europe. Both prime nuke targets.

When Ukraine gave up its nuclear arsenal in the '90,s. 3 Countries guaranteed its future safety. The Uk, the US and .......Russia.

Fylingdales and Menwith Hill will be the first targets from Russia, not Catterick.

I am more worried about the naval exercises off Ireland which will be a distraction. I think they are more bothered about cutting undersea cables, disabling communications with allies before invading Ukraine. Germany seem to appease Putin for some reason, no doubt energy related.

If we let them into Ukraine unopposed, where next, Poland? If only we had a previous megalomaniac from history we could reference! The West need to show unity and strength otherwise Europe will look like easy pickings over time (which in truth it probably is).

I live in Scotton. I was wondering the other night if I'd be able to make it over the hill in 4 minutes.

When nuclear war seemed to be almost inevitable in the 70s I used to think that I'd rather be right underneath it. Vaporised in a blinding flash, you'd not feel a thing. Compare with a slow death from radiation poisoning or starvation during the subsequent nuclear winter. Just trying to cheer up the residents of Catterick.

Vlad not sure if you read this board but if you do by any chance could you wait until after Friday to nuke us. I normally have nachos on Friday but miss out last week and would be really disappointed to miss out again. Thanks buddy

Not sure where his motivation is for war. (Apart from ruining Kosovo's nachos night ) They say there's no appetite for it in Russia so it's not home politics.
That's what makes him so dangerous. Nobody can secong guess him.

Just to reassure there's no chance of it starting in the immediate future Beijing Olympics about to kick off he ain't going to upset Xi Jinping. He is clever though it's about the long game.

Well... the good news is that if you're right about the nuke targets, then you won't know about it as you'll be vaporised! (y)(y)

That said, I imagine that there would be quite a few nuke targets more strategic than Catterick!
