England Women Euros Final Match Thread

Fantastic for woman’s football, hope this pushes it further and higher 👏👏👏
woman’s World Cup next year, and I’m certain it will be broadcast by tv and media much higher and gets many many more fans .
very well done girls 👏👏

Yes it went a but misty in here when the final whistle went.

Some nice touches, I liked the England players forming a guard of honour for the officials and German players as they went up for their medals. Tournament has been a triumph and will do women's football the world of good, certainly opened my eyes to the women's game.

They brought it home, well done lionesses.

Well done to the team, coaches and staff. They all fully deserve it. The players showed some resilience in the final as Germany were really on top at one point. The reaction of everyone after the whistle was brilliant too.

On a personal note. I'm pleased Gabby Logan called out the difference at Wembley tonight compared to the shocking scenes at the men's final last summer. Tonight is how people should act. No booing the other teams anthem, no drunken aggressive behaviour and no total carnage outside the ground. I hope the idiot blokes involved last year can reflect on that but I very much doubt it.

Tried to watch it, but its awful, a decent pub team would beat these, also women commentators and, the high pitch voices.... too much shreeking... Bond is on ITV...class

why do people compare the ladies game to the mens game, woman’s tennis isn’t ever compèred to the mens because it’s a totally different 👍🏻, same with golf, cricket etc….
just enjoy it for what it is, or don’t bother tuning in 👍🏻

Honestly, these games have been a breath of fresh air in terms of experience at football games. Fans of both teams side by side enjoying the game, supporting their team but no fighting. I can't wait to get back to supporting Boro at the Riverside, but I genuinely wish it was a bit more like the two England games I've attended.

It’s getting compared to the mens game all the time..

There’s moves to have equality between them what ever that means… 🤷🏼‍♂️

I’m pleased they won but it annoys me when the woman with the mic on pitch side said it’s ended 56 years of hurt… no it hasn’t, it’s a great achievement for the women in their sport and in my opinion has no bearing to how I feel about England mens lack of trophies since 66…

I almost feel like I’m being made out as sexist because im not as interested in their success..

For me it’s like trying to equate the success of the vanarama winner to the champions league and im not talking about differences in quality of the players… or even as far as saying I should think of rugby league is as good as mens football… to me it’s not…

I’m not angry that there’s all the attention on their game im happy for them but for me it’s a different sport that I personally am not as interested in..

At the end of the day the womens wages will be determined by the sponsorship and overall marketability of their game, not forced to be equal…

No senior England side has won a major trophy since 1966, that's the whole point of the comparison. It's not comparing the men's and women's game directly.
We can, as a nation, at last celebrate success on the football field and that's important, not only for the women's game, but the men's game too. How many times has it been levelled at modern players that representing your country takes second place to club football. Those women tonight might have inspired footballers of all genders to consider success for your country that little bit more desirable. If you are an international player then that feeling must surely eclipse all others
A brilliant performance over the whole tournament.

And yet here you are.
Yes you’re right because I’m commenting on it after reading about it on a message board associated with a football team I am interested in… so I don’t see what point you’re making 🤷🏼‍♂️

like I’ve said, I’ve got no issues with womens football, quality or anything… I’m just not as interested in it as I am in MFC or the mens england team…
I just don’t see why they need to be compared, it’s a different quality, I’ll not say game as they have the same rules… and I’ll not say inferior as that is an individual perspective…

the only way to get equality would be to have no gender bar and just have the best players regardless of sex or pronouns… but that won’t happen for a long time, I guess…

Awesome performance by the Lionesses. Really impressed by the strength in depth of the team and the ability of the manager to introduce subs to change a game.

It's not going to happen full stop. So you can stop worrying about it. Physical equality will never happen.

It doesn't mean that the women's game is less entertaining, which I presume is why we watch. In fact it's proven for so many to be .ore entertaining, and supported by a more civilised crowd. It's time for the men's game to step up.

Totally different games. It's not a comparison

I love both but slightly prefer the men's game. But anyway, so looking forward to seeing how England (France and Germany) can perform against the States at the WC
