Boro vs Luton 10th December

"We are the Ayresome Angels and we never miss a match,
Unless there's something better on the tele"

My country's national team potentially being in a quarter-final of the biggest competition in world sport is a bigger deal to me than my club playing a standard league match in the Championship against Luton.

I don't see any issue with that view.

It shouldn't be a decision that fans have to make though, it's FIFA F***ing with the calendar.

If you live locally.

Those who dont live locally are likely to have made travel arrangements by now, and so should they be penalised for the hypothetical scenario of a handful of fans who dont live locally, dont want to watch it on Teesside and haven't made their travel arrangements.

This is not the Boro's fault, as suggested by the OP, this is down to FIFA (and to a lesser extent the EFL) for their ridiculous scheduling decisions.

Does anyone know why almost all Football and National League games are kicking off at dinnertime tomorrow?

To avoid clashing with the World Cup.

If England had finished 2nd in the group, we would have been playing at 3pm tomorrow.

Derby changed their kick-off on the 14th of October, I assume most other clubs did so at a similar time.

Are there are 6 League One games tonight with a 7:45pm kick off for the same reason.

(I'm heading along to a sold-out Home Park and then having some beers. That floats my boat a lot more than watching any of the Qatar action on the telly this evening (y))

Yep, Bolton moved theirs with Bristol Rovers back in September.

There's been plenty of time to prepare for the eventuality.

So fixtures have been moved on the basis that England might qualify for the next round and, if they did, might be playing tomorrow. What a load of nonsense.

Just consideration for the millions of England fans in the country.

Done so 1-2 months before the match kicked off so there's absolutely no disruption to people's travel plans.

What's the issue?

I get the arguments against a last minute change, not something done well in advance.

There won't be 'millions' of people attending games tomorrow.

There will be hundreds of thousands, many of whom would probably have been gutted if the match had clashed with England, including many of the players and staff.

Again, what's the issue?

It was done with plenty of notice, and the matches are still going ahead.

There will also be clubs having to arrange overnight accommodation when they would not otherwise have needed to. And fans, particularly away fans, who will be inconvenienced or even not be able to go.

Strictly also moved it's main show from Saturday night to Friday night.

I don't watch it, the Mrs told me 😉🤣
