Barlaser signs?

I doubt very much that he would play for Rotherham if he had signed for us. Perhaps he thinks that a deal is imminent, or has verbally agreed terms with us? Ihope so.
They need him playing every game they can, so in this circumstance I can see it being ok. Could have been a basic requirement of a transfer, as in "yeah, we'll sell him, but we need him to play this next game, and if he gets injured then of course you're entitled to pull out of the deal".

Most deals don't go that way, but each circumstance is different.

Perhaps we could do a deal where Barlaser comes to Boro and Caolan Boyd-Munce goes to Rotherham for the rest of the season, and we revisit it in the summer. That way CBM gets more game time, win-win for us.
The problem with this is CBM has to be assumed to be a massive downgrade on Barlaser (to us, and to them), and they need players who they know will perform, or they could go down. They would be bottom without Barlaser.

Why would they punt wages on CBM/ someone they've never heard of? So, even if he did go, he either wouldn't get a game, so no point in doing that for us or CBM, or he does get a game and they go down. If he's good enough to keep them up and replace Barlaser, then we should be keeping him here. Doesn't add up, not to me anyway.

They need money and players for both a relegation fight and possibly a league one promotion..

Fine mate, I respect your opinion, it was only an honest suggestion I was kicking about in the grey matter.

Presuming we like both ogbene and barlaser. The 40% of fee to newcastle could be offset if we bought barlaser for a mere 250k and paid more to rotherham for ogbene than hes worth. Avoiding rotherham paying newcastle a million or whatever it is.
£250k for Dan Barlaser
£1.75m for Chiedozie Ogbene
plus Boyd-Munce & Hoppe on loan of the rest of the season..

I get the sale of Barlaser, they're almost forced into it, but getting 1m for Barlaser and going down makes zero financial sense. They would get more than that, just by staying in the league. If they think they're going down anyway, then they might as well sell.

But, it's the "buy" of CBM which would make less sense, he would probably and up their 3rd or 4th best midfielder, even with Barlaser gone, so I don't see how he helps them? He's probably 5/6th in line here mind, so not it's not doing him or us any favours.

Effectively my point is, people often assume that other clubs might want your cast off's in return, when it's very rarely the case, a good fit, and the player actually wants to take a step down.

Yeah, not having a go or shooting you down, didn't mean it to come across like that, if it did.

Often see these kind of deals mentioned where clubs gain a good player and off load a player who's nowhere near the first team, they very rarely materialise.

Never heard of him until we were linked and even now never hear him mentioned on highlights, sky anywhere.

The thing i want to know is, how do you pronounce his name? Bar-Laser, Barla-Sar, Barla-Ser, Barlas-er ???

Being sensible about it £1m goes a long way in league one, the loan of CBM would at least be a cushion in terms of player numbers but perhaps too similar to Oliver Rathbone. It’s not a bad shout and whilst players fitting in might not be ideal it’s certainly better than nothing. I doubt that that sort of deal would come off because there are too many variables.. but maybe?

Sign Barlaser on a pre-contract agreement starting in July, then agree to loan him for 6 months from Rotherham at 1m. Newcastle will get nothing because Rotherham are not selling him, Rotherham will get a 1m fee 'for the loan', which is 1m than they would get in 6 months. Everyone is happy except the skunks

To be announced this week..
Domingos Quina going to Rotherham on loan fro Watford also Archie Collins rumoured to be leaving Exeter could we’ll be on Rotherham’s radar.

I think that arrangement might be investigated by the EFL 🤣
