Should we appeal the red card?

Worth an appeal. If Steffen had been well off his line then no, but having seen them squander a lot of possession and spurn many gilded opportunities, even needing a penalty rebound, DOGSO would be very generous to Sunderland.

The appeal will never be successful. If it was a foul, which is subjective so isn't irrefutably wrong, then it was a denial of a goal scoring opportunity and it doesn't matter whether it was inside or outside the box for that so the appeal would be rejected.

Every appeal we've had in recent years has had people claiming it's a waste of time to appeal, and bar Traore's early red against Aston Villa, every one has been successful.

That is just not true. There were at least two other successful appeals.
EDIT: I meant to say that is quite correct!

Should definitely appeal on the basis that Stewart got his foot to the line then threw himself to the ground.

Up to that point Fry did nothing which prevented him continuing his run.

And posters complaining about Fry, you must expect defenders to defend, that’s what they are there for.

Really? I've watched it multiple times and can't pinpoint an actual foul being made. Various reports of trips, pulls, pushes and tangles but I just can't see it.
Interesting how many different versions people see or comment on, maybe that’s why the refs get it wrong as well, looking for something to happen or expecting something to happen and imagining it did happen (or didn’t happen).

VAR needed in the championship, it’s not perfect but at least you get a second opinion.

I thought it was a red card. I think fry caught his ankle. It was never a penalty though.
Fry didn't catch his ankle, I've watched all angles and there doesn't appear to be contact. The pull on his bicept is a foul, but happens 20 times a game usually without a foul being given. The pull on Stewarts chest, is probably not a foul, it's two people physically competing. I think Stewart threw himself, when he realised the ball was getting away from him. Clever but not what I like to see, but Dael should have let it go after the first bicept tug.

Fry tried to pull him back 3 times as he was struggling to keep up. Some forwards would have gone down on the first pull back. Defo not a penalty.

Just watched it again on highlights on Boro site, I never realised the assistant ref never flagged for anything and the ref was way too far behind play - probably around half way line! - to have been certain it was a foul or in the penalty area. Even more angry now! We should appeal defo

Exactly the Crowd gave the decision hence my post.

Linesman don't generally flag these days. They have a button their flag to communicate with the referee and also are do it verbally through mics.

The linesman definitely didnt think it was a penalty, you could tell by the look on his face.

I’ve seen a few mackems at work today who didn’t think it was even a foul, fair play to them for saying so.
