Its 5pm and the Classified Football Results read by James Alexander Gordon ......

I know it’s there mainly for the sake of nostalgia, car radios and lower league scores now but I don’t see the point of a taxpayer-funded national broadcaster if they’re just going to cut beloved things like this, for no reason. It’s five minutes in the schedule! How much salary are they...

    Tav starts for Bournemouth

I don’t agree but sort of know what you’re saying, it’s turned out to be quite a big rebuild. The whole spine of the team is being reset with a new GK, leader at the back, losing Tav is our engine in the middle and of course all the strikers. I don’t think Chris Wilder’s going to hang around...

    Rodrigo muniz

Muniz + Armstrong or Gyokeres + some Eredivise filth? Which would we take?

    Rajiv Van La Parra

My god, none 😁 Vivid memories of the Southgate years there.

I did hear that Armstrong was done. So maybe the big deals are dependent on the first one going through, who knows.

    Rajiv Van La Parra

Played about 40 games! Or at least I feel like I watched him play 40.

Why No Trading Of Players Between Teams?

And the other equivalent would be, you’ve signed Alexis Sanchez for £350,000 a week on a four year deal and there’s no such thing as transfers. You want to get rid of Alexis Sanchez, because he’s *****, but you can’t sell or loan him, because there’s no such thing as transfers - and you can’t...

Why No Trading Of Players Between Teams?

It would be an amazing system in the Premier League if say, Norwich got to sign a 16 year old Raheem Sterling on a five year deal for 1k a week, and he can’t be transferred. That would be the equivalent, but runs contrary to how football works!

Why No Trading Of Players Between Teams?

Yes, they have no choice at all. The worst teams get the best players in the draft. And, lock them into a four year contract on minimal money (a rookie contract) so they have to stay with that team. Socialism! There is a lottery every season in NBA for draft picks, the worst 10 teams are in...

Why No Trading Of Players Between Teams?

Guaranteed contracts backed by the leagues and salary caps. (This is NBA, I don’t know much about the others but it’s pretty much the same.) So you’ll see a player who’s underachieving but being paid a fortune - let’s call him Harry Maguire - being traded for three young players who don’t earn...

    Rajiv Van La Parra

Van la Parra is the one I always forget in the list of deeply obscure Boro players. My favourite: John Eustace (played 4 mins, 1 booking, 0 goals, 0 assists)

Four new strikers is too many

Yeah, I did think of that team - and Robbo’s promotion season, when we signed Branca, Armstrong and Ricard in February - but the rest of the team was rock solid both times, the strikers were a tweak. This time we’re swapping all the strikers, plus Lenihan, plus Steffen, plus Giles, plus new...

Four new strikers is too many

Balogun and Connolly definitely threw us. So did the loans (Fulham lad and Bolasie) from January with Pulis, it takes a bit of time for strikers to settle. Good point as well that if you’re signing four strikers, it’s a hard sell sitting in a room with them trying to get them to sign a...

Four new strikers is too many

I agree that we need 4, and totally agree that it’s a unique chance to get promoted. The relegated teams are poor, we’ve got a top manager and bags of cash. Not sure what can be done about it but I’m not confident that anyone can bring in - with Steffen, Giles, Tav replacement and 3 strikers -...

Four new strikers is too many

Anyone else think there’s too much turnover of players, and it’s going to cost us this season? I know we’re forced into it given the state of the forward line last season. Nobody would have kept any of them. All the new signings so far have been improvements. But… I don’t think you can buy...
