This Dominic Cummings COVID meeting

I had to read your post twice as I couldn't believe that you could say something so crass and blatantly untrue, even if you think it was a throw away funny comment - which it certainly isn't.
To accuse people who don't have the same political views as you of being sympathetic towards pedophiles is beyond distasteful and I can't believe admin have allowed it to stay on the thread
Whilst I take your point I believe it was clearly flippant. Admin get involved too often on here, imho, without removing stuff that is clearly meant in jest.

Correct. No mention of his mates Gove or Rishi in all this..
Cummings is laying the foundations for the inevitable coup to follow.

Vile as he is, Cummings is not stupid and everything he is saying will have a backup, Boris Johnson will know this. It's just a matter of time n

There’s a lot of comments where Cummings seems to be implying if they listened to him everything would have been much better.
Can’t stand any of this lot.

I didnt, I think you need to read the post it replies to.

One of the most galling things about this process/questioning is that the man that signed off on the ending of stockpiling of PPE in favour of reliance on procurement via supply lines, Jeremy Hunt...a decision that has led to so many deaths, particularly within the NHS is asking questions as the Chair of one of the committees. The world has gone f@#£ing MAD!!!!

He certainly isn't holding back is he, highlights so far:-

* Hancock is a liar, he has evidence and should have been sacked for at least 15-20 things

* Political system is completely broken as Jeremy Corbyn and Johnson effectively a 2 horse race and neither should be anywhere near the hot seat

* Johnson didn't take it seriously and suggested Covid parties similar to chicken pox parties that children have

* While things were going majorly wrong Carrie Symonds was getting her knickers in a twist about an article on her dog

* Government and Sage completely inept

Still a couple of hours to go too!
This isn't a biased political view, after all it was my party, labour who claims to protect the NHS from Tory privatisation that took Tory policy, PFI & built over priced badly built by hospitals, who introduced any qualified provider that allowed private bids for NHS services .Hello Mr Brandon..
Ive been a nurse in NHS for 35 years. Hancock is without doubt the most incompetent, dishonest, corrupt, pathetic Van-Ker to have held the position. The bad luck is that we've had a global pandemic at the same time as the most stupid PM, the most oppenly corrupt cabinet & compliment media who shout down any dissenting. Let's not forget SAGE, who allowed or if I'm being charitable, weren't listened to, for the UK to be unprepared for the worst case scenario, a virilant respitory virus. In the last 10 years how did they advise when it came to funding for NHS, for public health for PPE? What did they say when existing public health structures were cut out & private non health companies were handed testing? How did they weigh up who might die from covid against who would die from anything else when the nhs shut to anything non covid or blue lights. there's plenty of blame to go around. I've spent the last the last 14 months fluctuating between angry Frustrated embarrassed, mostly F!!!! Angry. Rant over..

There was a major exercise to test how prepared we were for a pandemic like this, which we knew was a matter of time, in 2016.

The question is what did we learn and what was implemented?

I would say, whatever we learned, we did not implement for two reasons.

10 years of underfunding of the NHS meant we were so stretched the everyday took priority. We just had no funds to do anything major to prepare.

Secondly, Brexit paralysed government in every department. Nothing got done.

If I was to add a third, it would be to remark that this Government, this Brexit government, embarked on the most momentous political decision and change of direction in 45 years, without even a sketch of a plan. Then spent 4.5 more years still not coming up with one. Why expect them to have a plan for anything, if they couldn't work out they needed one for that?

Well said Erimus.

Well said Erimus.

It's not well said.

He and you have not understood the target of the joke, or that it was an exaggeration for comic effect.

Johnson has seemingly been forgiven for brazen dishonesty, massive incompetence, incredible laziness, undermining the conventions that hold our very democracy together and presiding over massive corruption.

The joke was therefore that the only thing left that could be worse is if it turned out he was a paedo. The exagerration for comic effect was 'and even then, can we be so sure since they tend to blame others for everything - immigrants, the EU, remoaners, judges, the BBC, a Party that hasn't been in power for 11 years, etc. etc.'

The point of the jokes - and they really were jokes - is that all of these things should have been more than enough to sink him many times over, but he gets away with it because his supporters allow him to, often by pretending it was someone else's fault.

I mean, it takes some mental gymnastics to blame remainers for not having a Brexit plan rather than the people who actually advocated it.

The irony of him moaning about a culture of people wanting to "take things offline" (as opposed to on the record presumably) while he's sat there betraying any number of confidences is presumably lost on him.

Also I'm not sure what his views are on "groupthink", can anyone clarify? 🙄

Well this really is hilarious. Wasn't at all difficult to predict the flood of manic lefties who, after casting Dominic Cummins as the devil incarnate last year now want to adopt him as a new Saint.
Good job Cummins isn't a spoilt child and a liar holding a grudge so we can now take everything he says as Gospel. Still, he's singing a song that will be extremely popular with a massive majority of political posters on here so it's a great day for them and a pretty grim one for Johnson and Hancock.

I think we can all name 3 countries in the World who had a plan and got it right. Most of the others didn't or did and made some serious miscalculations along the way. Hindsight however is always 20-20.
