Anti 'Jawdie Arabia' flag at Crystal Palace game today - police investigation

It is. Guaranteed. Nailed on. I’d rather play level 7 or 8 with a clear conscience than get into the Champions League with blood on my hands. It’s f*cked.
500 people a year in the UK commit suicide because of gambling debts.

Or would you prefer we were sponsored by a loan company that charged 118% interest? I wonder how many people kill themselves when faced with mounting debts they can't pay.

Is morality really just a question of scale?

All good points br14, and you'll get no argument here, but maybe this was the one that broke the camel's back.

I don't see anything offensive... I mean just Google the things it's saying and they are 'facts'.

Also read that the owners are happy to circulate the banner to other prem clubs for when they play them👍

That said.... Reading some reactions from Leeds and West ham fans etc. You know full well the majority would have them as owners in a flash (as would some on here who moan about Gibson being a spent force).

I think the route they will use will be the figure with the sword is a generic Arabic figure so it could be considered a racist sterotype. what they could have done is make the image unequivocally bin salman

The police will have received presumably from Newcastle fans claims of racism in the banner. They will, investigate and hopefully conclude nothing untoward.

Besides how could Newcastle fans know anything about racism. They don’t know what getting their club back means.

Haven’t Newcastle fans been racially mocking the Saudis by turning up to matches with tea towels on their heads?

Exactly. If it's the cartoon someone is objecting to I assume all those Newcastle fans will be under investigation too then?

Possibly, but I’ve been vocal about my dislike of gambling in football on here and in print elsewhere over the past few years. I felt the same about us being sponsored by a pawn shop. I don’t think these people, regimes, companies, we all know who they are, should have such a stake in football but I’m not going to let it drive me away from something I love.

Im not sure it’s even political, it’s just a factual statement.

I have no idea why the police are investigating. What a waste of time.
It is a banner aimed at the Premier League Fit and Proper test isn’t it?
They are merely listing known issues of the Saudi regime.

The problem is, of course, neither the Prem, nor the Saudi owners will want this kind of thing.
They have deep pockets and government support.

It could end up with suppression which would be a dark, albeit, unsurprising, place for fans to end up.

All The Mags have to do is when they find the banner perpetrators is get them in the centre circle at Sid James next home match and publicly behead them . The board will find that perfectly normal .

It's unrelated to this thread but highlights that money trumps everything:

Beckham and Qatar

They will pick and choose the moral issues that they choose and ignore others.

The mail are really trying to paint the anti takeover voices as hypocrites, they have started to get their big hitters out to try and make the takeover seem normal
These articles just highlight how much rotten Saudi money is floating through the system getting people on board and corrupting the media and the Government.

I'm deeply uneasy about our sponsors, and would like us to look at healthier industries to get income. This whataboutery doesn't change a thing about the evil and oppression that purchased the skunks though

The solution to this is quite easy, if there is a will amongs football fans. Boycott the games newcastle are involved in, don't buy a ticket and don't watch on sky.

I would support any local boozers who refuse to show the games.

He's let himself down badly. I mean at the time of Qatar winning the world cup he talked about the open corruption, how England were the only ones bothering to attempt to woo votes the night before, and he knew a decision had already been made. Roll on 8 years and here he is taking that same blood money. I thought Beckham was better than that

You are, of course, right but there are levels of moral responsibility, which I am sure you get.

I won't be watching next years world cup for the same reasons I will never watch another newcastle game, until their ownerrs take their rico money elsewhere.

That's because the "anti takeover voices" are hypocrites.
It's worth noting that apparantly Steve Parish was the most vocal objecter in the recent premier league meeting convened to illegally stop Newcastle from doing sponsorship deals.
It does raise the question wether he was responsible for it?
