Awful ref

Players didn’t know where they stood with him — elbow on Paddy was deffo red, which led to their goal. I know that Maddo said that the foul on Watmore wasn’t a foul but I think it was — Watmore would have been clear on goal (linesman flagged) but defender accidentally maybe clipped Watmore — that’s still a foul.
there was numerous other situations where the ref missed things with fouls on Sporar and Crooks.

Check out the Swansea fans and their comments after todays game, ironic given our game there last season.

Trouble is refs in the championship are very poor.

Champo refs are an absolute shambles.

We desperately need VAR.

Seems like it's every week we are talking about the ref.
Agree that the standard of refereeing is abysmal and quite often this season the performance or lack of from the referees has been the main talking point/ complaint from fans, and quite rightly so. Seems ironic however that some on here berated Warnock for doing just that. Interesting to see what Wilder has to say about today’s debacle.

It might well be that we have to go down this route as this isn’t first game or isolated incident that has caused the outcome of games to be compromised. The missed incidents clearly effected the result of the game today — maybe Premier league money can be invested into lower leagues for VAR — I’d be in favour of it.

I think Watmore made the most of it, but those are usually given. However, you could see the assault on McNair from the north stand. Mason could’ve gone in the second half, and he was quickly subbed afterwards. Once again the terrible standard of refereeing in the Championship has cost us. There’s no reason why the Championship shouldn’t have VAR, given what’s at stake, financially anyway.

Instead of VAR, could it be invested in professional refs, or at least training them better?

No, VAR is dreadful I hate it more than losing. I'd rather we dropped the occasional point than had to sit after every goal and wait for the checks to complete. You have to have refs that are properly competent and just accept that they are human and will make mistakes, I think the ref was unsighted for the elbow that led to the goal but I do not understand how he over-ruled the linesman's flag for the foul on Watmore? I've seen the replays and it is at best inconclusive and surely in that situation he has to take the decision of the lino ten yards away rather than over-rule? Shambolic.

Watmore dived, it was never a foul, we laughed when the linesman flagged

None of the main match reports seem to mention the fouls in the build up, I'm not sure if Wilder has either.

I thought Watmore went down very easily. But he was away from the striker so he wouldn't have gone down without contact. I'm amazed that the referee overruled the linesman considering how close he was to the action. I didn't see what happened to McNair, it doesn't look like there was much in that one in the Sky Sports highlights.

Watmore was definitely pushed, although he did go down very easily.

The worst referee. Football fans are being robbed blind to have the likes of him officiating matches at his level. An absolute disgrace!

He dived across the defender, he wasn't away from him at all

1st off the ref was truly awful.

We had a few good pots on goal in the 1st half & could, should have added a 2nd, with a bit more composure Crooks could have had a hattrick today

I love watching Watmore, what a good professional he is & a good example to any player who wont give up after injury setbacks, he runs & runs & never shirks, he should have had two assists this afternoon
