What next for Leo?

I don't understand the love in but also wish him no harm or harbour any ill feeling towards the bloke but at the moment it looks like he's a glorified cheerleader. I like many of you spend my Saturdays, Tuesdays or whenever we play travelling up and down the country supporting the team (missed only 1 game so far this season due to covid). If the club feel he has something to offer then I can accept that and get behind both he and the team.

If you travel up and down the country then you will have seen Leo preparing the team and taking them through last minute routines before every game. He is also leading sessions in training and clearly fulfilling important roles at the club. Am so proud that Leo is still a part of Boro as Boro is fortunate to have someone with all the experience(s) and know how of Leo.

" I don't understand the love in"

Are you serious? Love in ?
Is that what you think that this is.?
It would have been easier for you to simply give Mwelolo a thumbs up rather than write stuff such as " if the club feels he has something to offer"

I couldn't care less if he had nothing to offer. The man has suffered the most soul destroying loss imaginable and you call it a " love in?"

I hope that life doesn't deal you such grief and pain or the need to find a reason to live.

The Boro have given the man some hope and a reason to carry on and no matter whatever he decides to do in the future, the Boro will forever be
in his heart as he will in mine.

" Love in " Try compassion and respect.

How many managers has Leo worked under now, assuming he’ll be part of Wilder’s team?

Karanka
Agnew
Woodgate
Warnock
Wilder

Is that a record?

The 'Love In' is both ways, never mind the horrendous event Leo went through. He's just Boro through and through and a fantastic motivator. A great guy to have around the club, an icon, inspiration, our Bez.
I really hope Wilder keeps him around. His passion always gives me a buzz

ConcourseColin.

I see that you find my post above hilarious.

Had you replied with " you meant no offence and that your words were simply throw away phrases"
I would have offered a sincere apology.

That doesn't appear to be the case though.

I wonder if you would find me hilarious had you come on here and told a similar tale to one of Leo's, and when the majority
of posters on here were to huddle around you and offer words of encouragement, that I would appear and say " I dont understand
the love in and he'll be alright, he'll get over it and he'll find something else to do.

In effect, that is what you have said and you wonder why I have taken offence?

I would expect all the posters on here as well as Admin to tell me to do one and to sod off to COB where that sort of behaviour
is tolerated.

Before you send me another laughing emoji, give it a little more thought and then you may find why I and others are offended.

Leo is one of the most passionate individuals that's ever been involved with our football club. It's heartwarming to see someone from South America develop such a love for the club and the area as a whole (like TLF all over again). You have to remember after the awful awful tragedy there was the lights for Leo game etc and that will have meant absolutely everything to the bloke and probably kept him going.

I'm absolutely certain Steve Gibson will always ensure there is a role for Leo at the club for as long as he wants to be here (and rightly so). His passion rubs off on players and supporters and is a big asset for us as a club. I've no doubt with all of his experience (Uruguay International etc) he's a top coach too. Love the bloke me.

For the sake of some opinions on here I will put aside the tragedy him and his family went through, I will also put aside that he is a passionate bloke and is actually passionate about our club and the majority of Boro fans like him. From a coaching point of view he has worked with top clubs in Europe, North and South America, he has Also worked with Brazil, France and other National teams. To have a Footballing CV like he has I'm pretty sure he can do more than beat his chest and shout "Come on Boro". I could also go on to mention his contacts all over the world, in the summer when we where chasing South American players Leo was involved. How about when we got promoted under Karanka and our goalkeeper Dimi ended up being one of the best keepers statistically wise in the Championship, and at the end of the season thanked Leo for helping Dimi achieve this. I really didn't like writing this post as I don't feel that I or anyone else should have to justify Leo's role at the club, he adds a lot more positives to this club than negatives and it shows a human and compassionate side to football rarely seen.

great post, having met the guy a few times as he must live somewhere near me he’s also a really nice guy. Always puts a lot of effort in to speaking with and entertaining my kids, though you can see the hurt in his eyes when he looks at my one year old daughter, though he still tries his best to make her laugh and giggle.
Even if Wilder didn’t want him in his first team coaching set up with his experience there absolutely should be a place for him in the youth set up somewhere or managing the u23s.

Just posted an article from Jan 25th 2020 - Echo - to compliment this excellent thread. (y)
Extremely moving.
