Memories of Ali Brownlee from 6 years ago this weekend ❤

A great man. Used to really enjoy his morning show too. A voice that instantly you could relate to. Like was your next door neighbor. Had the pleasure of having a cup of tea with him once, just a very likeable man with time for anybody. The word legend gets thrown around a lot these days but he will always be a legend to me.
 
I had the pleasure of interviewing Ali during my college days. You don’t meet many like him, a truly down to earth local legend.

Young Boro fans growing up now are really missing out having never experienced the sound of him covering a Boro goal.

Every time I've been in The BBC Tees studio, his picture on the wall is the first thing I see, and it always makes me stop for a moment and think of him. A great fella.

I think it hit many Boro fans hard. It certainly hit me A man who was very familiar to us, who we had met on our travels following our team and who had the town and the Club running through his veins. A man who would chat with anybody. I met him on a preseason trip to Holland when we were playing in The Hague. We were on a train to Amsterdam and he and Bernie joined us for the journey in. Also had a good night with him in Graz at a hotel restaurant. Memories like that for me that will live for ever.
