ITV confirmation Number Ten partied whilst the rest of us locked down.

It was reported in various news sources a few weeks back JM.

Law of averages doesn't bode well for the workload for cancer specialists in the coming months and years.
I know im not denying it, I was stating this wasnt a result of lockdown and more the impact of covid. If a hospital is running close to capacity, huge numbers of staff are off sick or isolating and hospitals arent safe environments for the vulnerable, obviously routine things arent going to get done, the more covid cases we have = more hospitalisations = limited resources already stretched and people miss out on treatments.

Not putting any restrictions in place and allowing covid to spread more than it did would have only made this worse

The main reason that we have issues with the NHS is still the underfunding of the last decade.

You can say the same about most things that are publicly funded.

The NHS budget is probably 100 Billion a year short of where it would have been under any other (of any party) government.

I've got a feeling that this will be the straw that breaks the camel's back. I can't see any way back from this

I don't think things work that way nowadays, we have our own version of Trump where the truth no longer matters.

They are literally able to write their own version of the truth even though everyone knows its fiction and they know that we know they're lying.

Its like living through a black comedy.

I didn't say we were wrong to lock down Dood.

I do maintain that the why, who and when was wrong for lockdowns and how other countries have managed lockdowns proves my point.

On the issue of population density this was used continually during lockdowns to justify them by members of this board and shy away from a Sweden like approach of early adoption of masks, sanitised hands, social distancing and working from home where you can. Non of these were adopted until after the first lockdown.
It was a farce Dood.
I'm not and never have supported the timing of government action. You can go back through all my posts from the start of the pandemic to see the constant thread of me thinking this government reacted to late and too lightly throughout.
Neither have I accused anyone here of saying we should have let Covid rip.
However, given the population densities of our towns and cities and the attitude of so many people, an absence of lockdowns or other restrictions would have given Covid far more chance to infect far more people before we had either the vaccine or the improved treatments. It would essentially have ripped through some areas by default.
50,000 cases a day (or well over a million a month if you like big numbers) is testament to how badly we've managed the pandemic. This government should be run out of office for a generation or more and it would be if we didn't have a population that was increasingly self-interested and self-entitled.

I don’t agree with this as truth does still exist in the Uk ( unlike under trump) as boris hasn’t denied a party ( that trump would do) no he just doesn’t comment on it.

the tories don’t openly lie perse but at the same time they don’t admit the truth either they just avoid the subject or pivot to something else. As admitting a lie is what gets you sacked if you don’t comment or refuse to acknowledge the issue keeps you in power.

Except they have said that there was no party.

I'm afraid all you'll see at PMQs is Johnson giving bluster, bluster, a poor joke, we did this while they did this, waffle, waffle, while the braying mob sitting behind him will laugh, cheer vociferously and clap.
A minor reshuffle and the conservative voters will all fall back into line. Any sort of conscience they may have seen resurface over the last few days will quickly disappear and they'll return back into their usual and condescending "I'm alright Jack" mode

The government flick pīss into our eyes and the population thanks them for it

You might be right mate - I just feel that people will take this one personally

Randy was arguing against lockdowns and using the fact cancer referrals are down as an argument against them, im just pointing out this wasnt an impact of lockdown. If we didnt go into lockdown this would have been significantly worse.

I agree with your post to an extent, but Sweden isnt comparable to the UK, they have far worse death statistics than neighbouring countries suggesting they didnt take the right approach

No they said it was a business gathering they never denied a party so they admit something happened but refuse to acknowledge what. Classic Tory spin tactic
Just seen the news and I do apologise as your right they have used the phrase there was no party which is different to the line they used the other day hmm that’s surprising.

So let me get this right. You suggest children having to receive education remotely for a relatively short period of time is worse than peoples loved ones dying. People often still in the prime of life. Dying completely on their own because their families cant be there due to covid restrictions.
But kids not physically being in school to have their lessons for a few months is worse?
And it's me that needs more empathy? Jesus wept.
As I said to Mart I am not playing this game with you. For many children it didn't impact their emotional well being. For some families it devastated their children. I know this to be true.

Try not to be so confrontational when you don't know people's circumstances.

I’m trying to be candid, but I’m sorry it’s codswallop

losing a parent f**ks you up. More so children

Its a bit more sophisticated than just shouting fake news at the media but as far as dishonesty goes its as bad as anything in America under Trump.

I have to sometimes remind myself that this is real life and not a bunch of scenes from a sketch show. In a few years when all these politicians are gone this will make one of the most entertaining series' we've ever seen.
