It's not happing. I simply don't see us linked or after a keeper. We've loaned one out and still have 3.

Why spend money or a loan fee on one? I'm not his biggest fan yet its not like its a must. Lumley does a job... Jess not the best or worst in the division.

I'd love a top draw keeper...but not at millions and 20-30k a week

We saw the difference someone like Randolph made, a good keeper over an average one is likely worth 15 points each season. It’s a must for me. He will cost us time after time this season
 
Sorry, look at the stats we are not conceding a lot of goals (only four teams in the league have conceded more) and Lumley is part of that. He's fine, not outstanding, not abject, fine.

If we can get better cheaper then do that, you should always look to improve every area of the pitch, but I wouldn't have it as a priority.

I just can't imagine how you can arrive at a figure of 15 points. It's not likely to be anything like that. But in an ideal world, where you had an unlimited budget, a new brilliant goalie would save some points, that's undeniable. But you'd have to spend an awful lot of money to buy a brilliant goalie.

In terms of points return on transfer money spent, a good striker would return far more points. Boro's weakness is scoring goals, and everytime the team fails to score, it's at least two points lost. The biggest scorers are almost always promoted to the Prem League.

With three goalies on the books it doesn't seem likely to me that Chris Wilder would want another.
 
He is a poor keeper as is his understudy. A good keeper is worth 15 points across a season imho. We desperately need to upgrade. There are some good no2 keepers in the PL who may like game time
 
He initially moved to his left to attack the cross, decided he couldn't get there and by the time he stopped his momentum and turned to face the ball it was looping over his head into the net. At fault in my opinion and doesn't inspire confidence.

I suggest you watch the goal again because your description is inaccurate. He makes no attempt to come for the ball.

How do you come up with that number?

How many have we conceded under Wilder? Six in his eight games, three of those goals conceded in games we have won anyway so even if the keeper had saved one of those we'd have won anyway. So you have the draw against Millwall and the loss to PNE that might have been affected by a better keeper. Perhaps another two points? That's without looking at the circumstance of those goals. Millwall game the ball was deflected in off Sol Bamba nothing any keeper can do about that it's just luck. I seem to remember a Bamba slip against PNE, the match summary tells me that PNE had two shots on target. So perhaps a better keeper in the Wilder side gets us one extra point.

Certainly not a priority.

I've seen better keepers than Lumley beaten like that, it happens.
 
He isn't terrible but he is a bottom half keeper, I'd love a new keeper, but we need to get it right, not scatter gun and it's a very difficult position to fill because mental strength is so much part of that position

Sorry, in summary, that "super" keeper gets us an extra six points (in my estimation not 15).

As I said it depends on how much you have to spend to get this improved keeper...
