It’s getting harder and harder to defend Tav.

But we've won 7 out of 8 with Tav in the side. I don't see the desperate need to change
Wilder's been in charge for 10 league games now. We've won 6, drawn 2 and lost 2.

Tav has started every game (in central midfield) and has contributed with one assist.

Just because you're winning games doesn't mean every player is putting in good performances. I appreciate the work Tav does for the team off the ball but he's not contributing enough in terms of goals and assists. Crooks isn't going to pop up and score 2 goals every game. He's going to have off days and this is where we need Tav to step up to the plate.

Wow so many different opinions about the same player in the same game. Personally I'll back what Wilder does with him. If he's not happy he'll drop him, but he must be seeing something good in him to continue to play him when half the fans think he's gash while the other half think he's okay/good.
Ahh football, all about opinions init?
That's the right attitude to have, but Wilder has signed two left footed centre midfielders, so you would think one of them has come to play? (McGree turned down Celtic & Forest for us)

“Becoming harder to defend Tav”.

Given his last few performances before last night it was getting much easier to defend him.

Last night wasn’t one of his better games but he still supplied the best 3 opportunities to score. In that respect he was not the problem whatsoever.

I honestly dont get the Tav love in from some folks.

He hass the odd brief spell in each game where he steps up, but for the rest of the time he is anonymous and contributes very little.

The whole team has moved on and stepped up in recent times, Tav has not, in my opinion.

Football is a funny old game.

I'm sure he's aware that his needs to chip in more in terms of goals, although to be fair an assist requires someone else to stick it away (like Crooks should've last night). But the contribution 8n terms of work ethic shouldn't be dismissed, it's all part of our recent collective success (as us the efforts of everyone else).
Payero is a totally different player and his lack of minutes suggests Wilder doesn't think he can meet those same demands.

This is the problem, his work rate is exceptional but a lot of attacks are breaking down through him and he just isn’t having an impact going forward. If we’re intent on being an attacking team, I don’t think his place is guaranteed. As previously said, I really like him, a break away from the side might do him the world of good.

Would love to know where you have seen a Tav love in, he’s the most criticised player at the club.

Interesting that there's not a single thread criticising the bloke responsible for poor defending for our last two goals conceded, but a few for a player who wasn't particularly poor last night compared to several others.

He's been part of the team that's moved on and stepped up 😁

Tav was great, he’s had a bad season and seems to be going backwards no matter what fans of his say. We all want him to be better as he seems to have great potential. Yet as we continue to improve he could get left behind if he doesn’t - this McGree surely is coming in for his shirt.

Tav's positives are his delivery from corners and free kicks - couple of peach crosses last night. The rest fo his game does need to improve. A bit of self belief has gone not sure why.

Wouldn't say that's the case.

His deliveries have been truly awful for months.

He's managed 3 decent crosses in the last two matches, but our corners have been one of our biggest weaknesses this season.

If he wasn't taking our free kicks and corners, he'd be getting a lot less grief than he does.

I really can not accept this at all. McNairs delivery was far better from corners and free kicks into the box. Since Wilder came and McNair scored v PNE, he has been told to be in the box.
Tav‘s delivery from dead balls is generally really poor, his cross for Crooks goal v Reading was certainly not a dead ball.

That said, he is a player with talent, but for some reason is not the player he was. He is being used differently mind, he seems to be trying too hard, gets caught in possession too often, but tbf he always fights back for it when he does. He had a little more freedom under Warnock imho and when he got goals it was often when cutting in from the RHS rather than central.

He covers lots of ground, presses, tracks back and gives 100%, his contribution is different and his role under Wilder has meant his contribution in terms of assists/goals is less. Being on dead balls means (corners and wide free kicks) he isn’t hanging around the area for knock downs, clearances where he can shoot and pick up the odd goal here and there.

At the end of the day it is a team game and the results with him playing have been largely positive, the question yet to be answered is would it be better from another player in there or not? There is only one way to find out and I am sure we will now we have more options (when McGree returns that is). Payero is more an option for Crooks imho.

Trust in Wilder he knows better than most of us, he sees them train and/or play.
