Automatic Promotion - Forget it now....

Oh no - That's what my dad says. I have never heard anyone else say it. GULP. Dad....is that you?
The full joke is about the bloke that goes into the butcher's and asks for a steak and kiddley pie.....
So the butcher says, 'Don't you mean steak and Kidney' ?
'That's what I said diddle I' replies the man 🤣

How many defeats is it now? 9. Sides gaining automatic promotion don't lose more than 10 in a typical season. I think Karanka's promotion side ended up with 9 defeats all season. I think it's fair to say we'll lose more than one more game in the next 20. Automatic promotion is never happening.

2.2 Pts per game under wilder before yesterday and were 7th . I doubt we’d be top 10 now warnock .

Warnock was averaging 1.29, lets call it 1.3, be generous, pts per game this season. We would be 14th with 35 points if that average continued 9pts from the playoffs! Wilder is averaging 2pts per game. We would be 2nd on 54pts with that average. There is no doubt about it!

Bournemouth, Fulham and WBA's progress and momentum in October has slowed down too, leading to the chasing pack catching up. I suspect there will be another break away at the top after the transfer window shuts and the FA Cup break is out of the way.

Automatic is normally 90 points.

We have 42 after 27 games.

Play-offs is normally 75 points. Achievable.
75 might be enough, but then again, it might not. Historically it is enough about half the time, with a good goal difference (which Boro don't have).

“A few good results” :ROFLMAO:

Dunno why I bite, but we just won 7, drew 2 and lost 2 since Wilder took over from your boy.

Remind me again when Warnock got 20 points out of 30? I’ll wait.

We were in the play off zone on Christmas Day 2020 after only 5 defeats in the first half of the season. We tailed off second half by losing 13 and I think after our 3-0 home defeat by Rotherham then a 4-1 defeat at home to Brentford that he jacked in the ambition to make the playoffs. Think that was around about mid Feb.

I understand the exitement following a few good results but realistically this was never going to happen. We were simply too far behind even before last night and with 6 teams already ahead of us to overtake 5 of them was going to be almost impossible.
I think getting to the play offs is realistic but we are going to have to improve.

When Neil Warnock was unfairly sacked on Nov 6th we were 4 points outside the play offs. Today we are 2 points outside, so not much has changed really has it....
Thanks
I wouldn't quite write it off, but it was always an outside chance at best. Warnock left us with too much to do.

Can we catch 10 points in 18 games plus a game in hand? Not impossible, but very difficult as there are another 4 teams we would need to out perform.

44 points in 19 games need. 14 wins, a couple of draws and 3 defeats? That's a tough ask for a team that don't put the ball in the net enough.

Could look very different in a week. If we beat Cov, and Blackburn lose away to Luton and Swansea. Then we will be 7 behind with 2 games in hand.....and it's game on again. Of course we need Barnsley to do the unthinkable and beat Bournemouth at Oakwell this weekend too putting us 4 behind Bournemouth.

I'm not writing it off just yet.

I think the level of immediate success lies at feet of our strikers . Hopefully balogun starts on Saturday and we get a taste of things to come
