My 11 year old tested positive for covid this morning

She is beside herself. I am not sure if she is worried about not seeing her friends for a week or frightened about the virus.

Had a good old cry this morning, my daughter, that is, not me.

She has an intermittent headache and a bit of a temperature at the minute CtC. She feels a bit poorly, I would say. My wife tested today, negative, I am going to leave it a couple of days and do my own test. Not going anywhere now for the week anyway, but it would be good to know if we are infected, even asymptomatically.

My girls have caught it a few times (7 and 9) and the little was scared at first and upset about not seeing friends. After the initial day of feeling rubbish they were both fine with it.

Get the Disney movies out 👍
It was the disappointment I think that made her cry. Not being able to do anything this weekend. Hopefully she will be up and about in a day or so.

Laid on the sofa watching disney+ and eating an egg sandwich.

Fingers crossed she won't feel too bad, My daughter (10) had it a couple of weeks ago and was fine, more bored that she couldn't go out than anything else. Just reassure her she'll be ok, mine was petrified at first, but then realised she felt ok.

Son (14) had it in October, and you wouldn't have even known, we tested as his friend was feeling a bit rough and had a positive test.

Good luck! and hope you avoid it too, thankfully when one of the kids had it, the rest of us avoided it both times.

I wouldn't mind getting it to be honest. Had 3 jabs, the booster about 8 or 10 weeks ago. A little infection would act as another booster jab for me before the booster wears off.

My lad tested positive on Saturday, he wasn't really poorly just had a bit of a sniffle and only tested because he had a mate coming round who was having his 2nd jab so he didn't want his mate to test positive and miss his 2nd vaccine.

He was distraught for 3 reason

1) He missed his football match against his local rivals
2) It meant we didn't go out for Sunday lunch so he had to have a proper homemade roast dinner (with sprouts)
3) He didn't get a full week off school as he tested positive on a Saturday his 5th day yesterday so thanks to negative test yesterday and today he is now back at school (for what he calls the 2 worst days of the week)

2nd time both him and the Mrs have had but I've managed to avoid it

I'd get testing yourself if I were you. If you're gonna get it best find out asap and get the clock started on the isolation period. My entire household has it, but I tested negative for 5 days after the first child got it. Which means it'll likely have been 15 days in total before we can all go out together now.

The reduced 5 days isolation is just a bit of a nonsense (suspect it's just a hollow sop to certain Tory backbenchers) I don't know anyone who's had it who's then tested negative on day 5. The vast majority still tested positive on day 10.

A house I worked in last week the whole family had it . The old fella was worried about getting it the last 18 month or so as he has cancer but it wasn’t a problem for them . He’s in his 70’s

You feed your kids sprouts? Surprised he hasn't emancipated himself.

I love sprouts, for the record, little baby cabbages.

That's a good point on isolation festa. I want too be able to do stuff next weekend. Cheers.

My 14 years old son as tested positive twice in the last 3 months at the begin of November and then again a week ago. He wears his mask everywhere and as had his first jab but can’t get his second until after 12 weeks of testing positive

Just from evidence on here it seems its rife amongst kids. Not surprising I guess if you stick 30 at a time in a classroom with poor ventilation.
