MFC Official: Joe Lumley Media Conference [V-23:52]

He had a great game against Blackburn.

I think I was worried about him at first with the Wilder style because he looked a little hesitant being a crucial part of playing across the back.

I have now realised that this system is new for all the 3 (5) + goalie and they are all easing their early nerves.

I'm particular impressed with his decision making now and happy knowing that any balls played over a high line defence will be nodded into touch by an advancing Joe alieviating the need for defenders tracking back and being pulled out of formation.

Interesting how he mentioned being the "complete footballer" and how his body is "fit" in a different way to outfield players.
When he describes doing "nothing" for 15 minutes, then being called on to save a crucial shot....but being "mentally prepared" for the full 90.
He was beaming when asked about the fans.
"I never realised".....Boro had such a "massive" away following.

I actually thought NW would have brought in an experienced GK, as opposed to a lelatively unknown, untested keeper, maybe he bought him on his MOTM performance against us last season
He's made some mistakes this season, but on the other hand he's played well in others & kept us in the game

He's ok for me, I remember Randolph making a few errors in games resulting in conceding goals

If he’d been playing the full season under wilder I doubt we’d be sat here concerned and wishing for New keeper
There was flashes in the Blackburn where he looked like a VERY competent sweeper keeper. Transfer speculation is a bit of fun and boro fans have always been totally crap at recognising good keepers.. whisper it, but (I think he might be good)

I was at a different Blackburn game where he nearly got caught out twice trying to be clever before kicking upfield and was too slow getting down for the goal. There's a reason he was reserve goalie at QPR 8 years and spent most of his time there on loan at lower league clubs
