Nominees for the biggest transfer rip off in football league history

Mido - 7m where Boro are concerned.

Man Utd must have at least 2, Maguire 85m and Pogba for 105m, I mean there's wasting your money and then there's that.

Adrian Mutu for Chelsea also should get a mention.

The Spanish guy Newcastle bought, no idea of his name. Think he broke his finger and never played a game.

I've probably imagined the whole thing mind...

Marcelino it is . You can't be too careful with a poorly finger

No way he wasn't.

Braithwaite ****ed us over 3 times in 3 seasons.

He was an awful, awful signing.

If Assombalonga hadn't left on a free transfer, Braithwaite would be up there as one of our worst second division permanent transfers for value for money.
Not sure how he fukced us over.. 40 appearances for boro and 9 goals. Monk didn’t fancy him, Pulis didn’t fancy him.. just daft old Barcelona!

2017/18 - loaned to Bordeaux
2018/19 - loaned to Leganes
2019/20 - signed for Leganes £5m loss

£1.5m wages per year.. subsidised by two loans.. so lets say we payed £7.5m all in for Braithwaite - £3.75m a season

Britt Assombalonga
£1.9 wages per year over four years totalling £7.6m plus a £15m transfer fee totalling £22,6m - £5.65m a season

it's worth mentioning that Barcelona paid £16.2m for Martin Braithwaite after he left us. his value increased suggesting that he was not a bad signing at all. we just had two bad managers

Garry Monk was completely out of his depth and ripped us off, Tony Pulis was dreadful, wasting money and underperforming with a squad that should have been automatically promoted.

Absolutely no comparison for me. Yes, Assombalonga probably underperformed but he really can't be compared to Braithwaite.

Winston Bogarde Chelsea £40 K a week for four years 9 appearances
40000 x 52 x 4 ÷ 9= £924,444 per appearance 😵‍💫

He played every single game under Monk, barring the ones he was injured for.

He then asked to leave as soon as Pulis came in.
He then came back in the summer, played every game at the start of the season and then asked to leave but was kept as he was playing well.
As soon as he didn't get his move, he stopped trying and then demanded a move again in January which he got.
Pulis left, Braithwaite then came back and demanded to leave yet again, and was finally sold at a significant loss after 2 years of F***ing us about.

The Barcelona saga is not worth mentioning, they signed him because of a ridiculous La Liga rule owing to the fact every striker in their squad was injured and he was the cheapest available option.
They've currently trying to offload him.

He was an awful signing for us.

He wasn't as bad as Britt Assombalonga. He came on the promise of smashing the league, the manager wasn't up for it and Tony Pulis was dreadful.

Aleksandar Mitrović and Tammy Abraham said they didn't want to come to us because of Tony Pulis.

He was worse than Assombalonga before Pulis, he was worse during and he was worse after.

Assombalonga was on 12 goals before Pulis came in, Braithwaite was on 5.

Assombalonga left under a cloud, and was a huge waste of money, but he didn't **** us over repeatedly within 6 months of joining.
