McCartney at Glastonbury

I too was thinking how good George would have been. Playing all things must pass in full would be special.

As for Macca I thought it was a strong set with impressive variety throughout his career (only me who is into 1985?) 😁

His voice was too low in the mix for me though.

Tonight is lining up nicely on iPlayer too. Jack White is rumoured tbc on the park stage, followed by Jarvis and Kendrick 👌

It didn’t really occur to me last night but chatting to a mate about it & how pleased I was he did Something, my mate remarked it was a George song & how incredible they were that he was only the 3rd best writer in the band.
The set was a bit stop start for me but finally built up a head of steam.
Must admit the songs with the videos in the background occasionally created a bit of dust in my eyes
Loved it.

Most newspapers givingbit 4 and 5 star reviews. For 80 thought his voice was excellent. If you want an example of a voice thats gone look no further than Rod Stewart and he's 3 years younger.

Put into perspective this guy's back catalogue of hits.

You forgot

simply having a wonderful Christmas time ding🛎️dong ding🛎️dong oh whoo whoo

John Friday, Paul Saturday, George Sunday (with apologies to Mr. Starr)

Oh and I'd say that George had a very good and influential career after the Fab Four.
Best songwriter for me. Niche I know. Ringo could wow the kids tent with train impressions

no score bore draw for me.
I never got the Beatles though so I'm not the target audience
Me neither. Saw a McCartney set once in the Tyne Tees studio when they filmed the Millennium Tube years ago. It was dreadful, like he hadn't heard any new music in 20 years.

Jack White isn't a rumour anymore. He is defo playing and has been announced in the Glasto paper.

He's a real living legend. Voice went years ago for a live setting but he's smart enough to have long ago assembled the most brilliant live band who can cover for him. His albums are still peppered (pun intended) with enough great songs to keep himself interested. Those slagging off his 'lesser known' songs have obviously not listened very closely. Despite popular myth, he has always done some interesting, 'left field' stuff alongside the mainstream output. Those interested enough could do a lot worse than listen to stuff like his third Fireman album (him and Youth from Killing Joke), Electric Arguments.
