So gut feeling - which strikers will we get?

YOU describe him as an impact sub through the thread.
Correctly.
He may be able to start matches and he may be everything your opinion says he is. I hope so, as it seems clear we will sign him.
My points are:
1. It is your opinion.
2. There is considerable risk in paying up to £8m for this lad and there is considerable risk in starting him.
3. My opinion is that I would much rather pay more for an international who is the best striker currently in the Championship and has a full season of being extremely good on a number of fronts. We won't beat a PL club to him, but IMHO paying more for Gyokeres is less of a gamble than buying Forss.
One of these lads has done much more than the other.
And many of us have been watching just how good he is throughout last season.

Totally agree, it's all opinion. I also agree based on last season, Gyokeres is 100% better than Forss, there's no denying that.

But one thing we can all agree on, is we're not getting Gyokeres - and we're not going to be paying £12m+ for a striker.

I did say £5-8 million for Forss, so hopefully it's closer to the 5, but that's just my opinion too - nobody knows.

I just think CW will want to sign at least 1 striker permanently on a longer contract, because we're going to end up with this consistent problem of needing 3 strikers every season if we don't.

From the strikers we've looked at to sign permanently (or have been rumoured to have looked at) - Forss is the best out of the bunch.

I largely agree with that, but I still can't agree we can't/won't get Gyokeres.
If a PL club comes in we have no chance.
If they don't then a strong bid will really shake Coventry's resolve, but it will be late in the window and dependent upon how they start.
It would happen about the same time as the PL clubs finalise their squads and let their loans out.

I might well be smoking good stuff, but I live in hope.
In the meantime I really hope your belief in Forss comes true. (y)

Where are we getting £8m from as a forss fee ?

I suppose a loan fee for a prem striker seems to be about £2m a season .

We've just sold Spence for £12.5m up front, and we had a bit of money before the sale... £5-8m was just my ballpark, hopefully it's closer to the 5.

Forss would hopefully have some sell-on value too, even if he wasn't very good for us.

Its nearer £3m for Forss.

After Hoppe I think we'll still look to bring another in, but will wait until the end of the window to keep out options open. Muniz seems to be available, allowing for a Fulham replacement, but we'll still be looking at Strand Larsen for sure.

If this is who we end up with then you can kiss promotion goodbye.
I think most Boro fans are facing a season of wondering — wtf is really going on. Maybe we’ll never really know but it stinks of maybe the executives not trusting CW and he’ll be off as soon as a better job becomes available.

So.. promotion depends on us signing Strand Larsen?
Nope - Don't know anything about this player - a few clips on Youtube will not determine if he can hack it in the Championship.
If we end up with Gyokeres and Armstong then I would say that is top 2 sorted.

Gyokerers and Armstrong seem very much to be order of the day when it comes to fans. Nothing to suggest at the moment that they would be heading our way. Wilder said he liked the look of Gyokeres before the Coventry game, saying he was the type of player we should be looking at (£1m) and Maddo said Armstrong would be the boyo for us in the championship.

My gut feeling is that Gyokeres would cost too much and Armstrong is staying in the prem.

Assume Armstrong's anon starter now. Started for Southampton, did nowt, subbed at half time, but they look like relegation favourites to me now. Can't seem them being prepared to move anyone on they don't have to.
