Back line gives me kittens

And I don’t like kittens.

Dael looks like he’d lose an It’s a Knockout race with the big wobbly giant. Anfernee and Bola look like losing the ball every time they receive and get pressed. Lenihan good today, though.

I’m still not convinced with Steffen. Two instances today were of concern. One, he fumbles a ball somehow when he’s gathered it on the floor and thus loses possession which could have led to a goal. Two, a cross comes in from their right, its misplaced, no one near it and heading way beyond the back post. Steffen, under no pressure, tries to catch it with one hand, loses it and then gives possession away again in our own box. For a premier league keeper, he’s not great. He did pull off a decent save in the second half though, so i’ll give him that

I'm not having Lenihan at all. There's a reason why he was still knocking about the Championship at 28 years old for a team like Blackburn, with next to no international honours despite playing for a **** poor nation.

I calked him the American Joe Lumley v WBA, too casual for my liking

Not convinced by what I've seen from Lenihan. Thought he was good in the air today but he does tend to dive into challenges.

He also should have left the ball for Steffen leading up to their 2nd goal, I'm sure Steffen gave him a shout but he chose to boot the ball out of play for a throw-in.

A settled back 3 would help but most of ours seem to want to be the cultured CB where a big ass thug type doesn’t go amiss in the championship

Lenihan poor again didn't close down for the first goal and got turned for the cross that Giles put in. Dives in way too much and gets turned far too often. Only redeeming thing was he stuck to it to the end and did well at the other end of the pitch. To me wilder has put his house on lenihan and quite frankly he's not a patch on dale fry. There's definitely some beef between fry and wilder he's critised fry earlier this week in the press hauled him off at half time and then dug him out in the interview with Mark Dreary post match. Pretty poor form from wilder

I said right through the match we looked poor defensively.
Steffen worries me at times , and Lenihan was not great for a long part of the game - though he grew into it.
What injury did Fry have?

They were all poor in their own way today at the back. Fry was absolutely abysmal on the ball. Lenihan too eager and gets too tight. Dijksteel was probably best of the lot but still not at his best. Bola brought balance second half but I do think we need to get that LCB position sorted and then hopefully we form a proper defence

Maybe there’s also a reason we can’t sign Premiership class CBs. Like us knocking about the championship for a number of seasons?

He seemed commanding for the first half against West Brom when they couldn't mount an attack to save their lives. Since then it's starting to look a different story. No tackle for the first. Asleep along with Djksteel for the second even though they had about 2 whole minutes to mark up and failed. He has little pace but generally good in the air. Good assist for the second though.

Fry has been gash this game and the cup game. He's too ponderous to make it at top level. Don't see why do many fans seem to think he's the answer to our defensive woes.

There's definitely something up with the defence it looks wobbly all over the place, I keep expecting Steffen to get lobbed from the halfway line or do a Lumley and run out and miss it, maybe he thinks because he has gone down a division he has to put on a show to highlight his talent, nope just do it simply, Hopefully the introduction of a more defensive midfielder takes that x% of pressure of our defenders which enables them to stop playing in such a rushed and cahotic way.
