Chuba Akpom`s day

Not sure if Chuba was at Arsenal at the same time as Serge Gnabry, but two former players that have gone on different paths, but are currently playing well for their respective clubs. I hope Chuba goes on to have a successful season at Boro, and hits double figures.
Don't see why he couldn't get double figures if Jones can start to get balls in the box aswell as Giles. Just like he did for the first. Good goal that one.

If Wilder and the coaches turn this lad into 10+ goals a season it will be credit indeed. He has all the reason in the world to turn away and move on. But, he seems a real genuine player who has rapidly fitted into Wilders system. I hope he makes it and proves us all wrong(y)

First time I’ve heard him interviewed, he came across really well. Clearly a very measured, grounded bloke. He’s putting a shift in and both of his goals today were Slaven-esque gambling on where the ball would drop and putting himself in the right place at the right time.
He became a bit sloppy in the second half, mis-placing passes and losing possession too easily, but from what he said afterwards, he was playing on one leg by then.

Akpong, Akpong, Chuba Akpong
He scores every time we sing this song
…………………..
From humble beginnings and still a humble man…Thierry Henry and Jimmy Floyd his heroes growing up and that pic yesterday with Isaiah Jones exuding the mutual respect he holds for our Chuba.
This 2019 interview from his pre-Boro days tells you all about the man…

If my memory is correct did warnock not say he was his number 1 target?

He did until he turned out to be less than effective, then he threw him under the bus and claimed he'd only watched him on videos.

As someone else said, watch him try and take credit for him if he continues to deliver like the last few games.

The man is a pure egotistical liar who'll say whatever to big himself up and keep his name in the papers.

i didn't think there was any chance of him making an impact this season, i thought he'd started ok for us when he signed and gradually looked worse and worse.
Couldn't be happier for him, he looks more confident, bigger, stronger, and deserved his goals.

Some good play from him, 2 goals and plenty of effort. I thought some of his link up play left something to be desired, by utd were admittedly very good at closing down space.

I'm not making any plans based around Akpom, but yesterday did show some promising potential.

Think he does his best work high up the pitch as possible when he was coming deep struggled a bit but in general his play was really good and 2 hugely important goals

We've scored 5 goals this season, he's scored or being involved in 4 of those goals (assist v's West Brom, and started the move for the second at QPR).

I dont think he could do much more.
