Kids football cancelled

You've already spoken to them? They not at school today I take it.

No they won't hang up their boots. They will however be spending the day on the xbox and generally p'd off with the monarchy. From how you've responded I guess your kids will be wearing black and watching BBC all day. All power to their elbow.

There really is no reason for it. The fact their rugby playing mates will be out there playing sport will only add to their sense of dissapointment.
No, they've got their phones at school so i text them at dinner.

Not watching BBC, just have a bit of respect and understand things a bit better than some people, impressive, must be my great parenting.

My kids dont have rugby playing mates, they're not backwards.

Backward? Her grandson in law played rugby. She only died yesterday. Have some respect man.

Was my lads first match tomorrow for a new team just set up. Under 8. All the kids were buzzing at their final training session this week. Just come out of school to me telling him it’s not happening.

I don’t see the logic in this either and I’m a royalist.

I am running a newly formed U10 team that were due to have their first game tomorrow. I've now got 11 very disappointed nine year olds. Like others have said, it makes no sense to cancel. These kids will now be playing on playstations or playing football in the street. I can 100% guarantee not one of them will be mourning in any way. Getting the kids to do a minutes silence before the game would have been far more symbolic than cancelling it.

My boys were going to start in a TJFA league on Sunday, but it's all off. I don't mind either way. The kids won't care, that's the way kids are, but the parents, coaches and refs feelings need to be considered.

plenty of kids will care, mine do

Other way round in our house. As the coach it gives me a lie in and a chance for a beer and curry tonight. My lad's moping round like someone has died.
I would say the kids are way more disappointed than I am. The way I look at it is the game will be rearranged and we'll still play 18 league games in the season.

Kid don't rationalise things quite so easily.

Kids can still go to Preston Park skateboarding track, go to the pictures, indoor play areas or trampolining centres. But they can't go and play football.
RIDICULOUS DECISION.

The Queen was the FAs patron and Prince William is the President of the FA, so it's quite a bit different to school or anything else. It is a show of respect from the whole umbrella of the FA, professional and grass roots isn't it for years of service from her, and from their Presidents grandmother nevermind the reigning monarch of the commonwealth.

All the kids who have done pre season, friendlies etc they won't hang up their boots or whatever over missing one weekend. I've spoken to my 2 who are 13 and 11 and they understand why the football has been postponed, so it baffles me adults have trouble getting their head around it.

My son is 15 and did not expect to play, the league called off all games anyway and I would not have got a full team out as parents were withdrawing their sons etc prior to the league making the correct announcement.

We've now been informed by the league that anyone caught playing will be fined.

Par for this particular course.

Agreed. My lad has honestly spent the full summer on a fitness program getting up at 6 in the mornig to be spot on for tomorrow.
Get him to watch this..
He’ll soon be kicking bags of rocks up and down Rosebery Topping!

Absolutely bizarre to cancel kids football. All that will happen is folk will go to the season or a park something instead.

Look through my posting history and you'll see that despite my own feelings for the monarchy, I've avoided posting because I appreciate the feeling of the nation and why they may be upset at this time. Just common sense to me tbf.

Can appreciate the power of pausing all professional football and the need for the FA to be seen to be supporting that given the president of the organisation is William. Its just a money game really. Fair enough

Cancelling my kids football though, is just 100% fcuking stupid. It benefits, nobody. Pretty pathetic regardless of your allegiances. Let's stop thousands of children from exercising because somebody we don't know, passed away.

Can anybody genuinely support this?

Couldn't agree more. Still can't get my head around the thought process that came up with this idea
