Anybody Just see The Ending to the England v India Womens ODI at Lord’s?

The non striker was watching the bowler until she got into delivery stride when turned to look down the wicket if the bowler goes through with her action she would have been a inch or two out of her ground.

Really poor that. It's not as if the series was in the balance either.

Once again it seems to be necessary to remind sportsmen/women/people that they are in the business of entertaining paying customers. After watching the women's football it appeared that the "fair gender" were more appreciative of that. Shame on you India.

Spot on fella. 👍

Nothing gentile about women’cricket then.
It may be within the rules but it was a crap action .

Inadvertently breaking the bails at the non striker's end the rules were changed to make this a no ball. I'd also like to see a no ball called if the bowler enters their delivery stride and then fails to deliver the ball.

The non-striker leaving the crease before the ball had been bowled is gaining an unfair advantage. This is where the “spirit of the game” stuff comes unstuck.

If it’s good enough for Bradman then it’s good enough for me:

It's in the laws. Yet very much not in the 'spirit' of cricket. That said I always find the 'spirit of cricket' a bit of a stretch.

I mean players apparently should walk if they know they have nicked it and caught. You probably 4-5 nicks per innings where a player will stand his ground despite hitting it. That's what always made me laugh about when Broad got so much stick against Australia. They all do it (although maybe not as blatent😂).

Although the ending of this game wouldn't sit right with me. I'd at least get the umpire to give a warning to the none striker. I imagine you could do this in every game from Sunday pub league to a WC final. Yet clearly nobody does. The reason bieng its a bit underhand and again 'not in the spirit'. You could see a few of the Indians looked very sheepish about celebrating.

The amazing part was that they were 2-0 up. So fairplay to win at all costs

Remember the end to a ODI about 30 years ago between Aus and NZ. Nz needed a 6 off the last ball and Greg Chappell the Aussie captain instructed his brother who was bowling to roll the ball under arm along the ground to stop him hitting the 6. The rules allowed him to do that

The fall out was massive as it wasn’t in the spirit of the game. They changed the rules.

This. It was not extravagant backing up. It was hardly backing up at all! The bowlers actions were disgraceful.

Have finally seen the mankad finish. News in NZ. We are not impressed. Clearly the bowler slowed her action and played for it, as she was about to deliver the batter automatically backed up. She conned her. It’s deliberate and horrible. It may well be legal but it’s wrong and against everything I feel keeps cricket apart from other sports.
