Madness in Albert Park

Top, top band

Such a massive coup getying one of the bands of the 80's 👍

Think im on nights too 😳
I love Madness and wish I could agree it is a massive coup, but it's not really tbh.
They don't really play many of the big venues anymore and tend to go to whoever will have them.
For some reason their last tour was mainly cricket grounds, parks and racecourses.

Saw them at York races in July. Already got tickets for Lets Rock the North east so ill just stick with that one.

Albert Park hosts the Mela and regular fairs, never the quietest of events. Really good to bring live festivals into the town. This will make music accessible to far more people.
The latest council budget cut proposals include closing the events section and stopping all events budget. This will almost certainly mean no Mela, no Reindeer Parade, no Orange Pip Market. no Discover Middlesbrough, no Local History Month and will surely make it harder to facilitate big outdoor events sucb as these. I hope you will support us in opposing this cut.
Who's actually promoting the shows Rob?
Is it the council or are they leasing out the park to allow external promotion company to run the events?
Seems a big financial risk for the council to buy into if it's them actually promoting the shows.

Ta!

So I guess council lease out the park for the weekend & make a bit of cash regardless of whether its a success or not.

Sure there used to be a Kilimanjaro themed Promoter in the Eighties or it may just be my frazzled body imagining it.

I can see this being a success - its the sort of thing a lot of Teessiders will have a few beers at and really let their hair down.

Where did you pay £45. I got 4 from See Tickets and was charged £221.02 over £55 with booking fee.
Got mine from ticketmaster at £55 each. On the expensive side for me especially as I've seen them at York races at least twice. Great to have something local though so worth it.

I'm not a regular gig goer. One big reason is the stress of buying.
This is the only time in years I simply clicked on the main site and bought a ticket without having to go to a reseller site.
£45 was the headline price for standing....
£57 all in by the time Ticketmaster adds in it questionable expenses.

Didn't bother paying the extra tenner for 'premium toilet':LOL:

It’s an expensive day all told, but it will be a real event for the town so I reckon it will be worth it and memorable well beyond just the madness set.

I’ll be making a full day of it, joining in and supporting as many of the peripheral goings on as I can.

Let’s face it, they are still great, their music is timeless and appeals to all ages, so it’s a guaranteed great day and loads of your friends will be there to add to the experience.

The only thing that could spoil it is vendors having your eyes out for food and drink, which is why I’ll fill up at an eaterie in the town first and enjoy a few drinks in the town before and after too.

I have 2 tickets face value unfortunately our friends can’t make it so if anyone would like these can private message me

It is but we've also been to gigs elsewhere and there's travel and hotel bills to add on so all in I don't mind.
