    Montana

Yes, it is spectacular, Mrs Shelbeam and I did a round road trip from SLC taking in Glacier National Park and the iconic "Going to the Sun road" some years ago. She reminds me that we had the best meatloaf ever at St Mary ( east side of park)! The two main towns/cities Helena and Bozeman were a...

    Mount Rushmore

Mrs Shelbeam and I have been, had breakfast in the restaurant looking at the "faces" Then went on to Rapid City....a bit like the film North by Northwest. The restaurant in the film isn't the real one, nor is there an airstrip above the monument!

Redwurzel...you forgot to mention "your own" label i.e. Philips. Our first 7inch single (when Dad's 78rpm Radiogram bit the dust ) was The Springfields (with Dusty) "Breakaway" on the Blue Philips label!

    21 years ago today

On a flight from Birmingham to Newark. We were probably the last plane across and we were diverted to Moncton (New Brunswick). Kept on the plane for 2 hours then taken to a hanger with seating and TV's where we saw what had happened. The local Red Cross and other organisations eventually found...

Name a shop that is closed in Teesside that you love to bring back.

Does anyone remember Deans in Bishopton Lane Stockton? {It was an old fashioned toy shop late 50's -60's)) I used to get off the No 8 bus in the high street and run round the corner just to look in the window especially at the Hornby Dublo stuff! It sold cycles and fireworks as well. Ah memories!

Alert Sounded Over Lockdown Scams Targeting Vulnerable

Coincidentally, had three separate emails today, all three saying my virus protection was about to expire etc. Not very convincing , from "McAfee" "Norton" and something called "Total AV protection" (which I've not heard of before) All scams as I don't use any of them. So be aware.

    Scottish and Irish Independence

Regarding referendums, by their nature, they rarely satisfy everybody. (see Brexit obviously) Rather than having a simple majority ( say 51:49 %) defining the outcome, why not specify in future a 2/3 rds majority "wins", otherwise the status quo remains in place. I suspect most people, being...

    George Taylor has died

kuepper...yes fine memories indeed. That position was a bit ramshackle as I remember. builder's scaffolding, a few boards accessed by means of a wooden ladder lashed to the framework! I think there were two cameras precariously balanced on the structure and it was on the Clive Road side of the...

River Leven joining point to the River Tees.

I agree with you Rob. This brings back memories. Me and my best mate Dave and Dave's dog Don ( I think he was with us) canoed as far as the bridge at the bottom of Leven Bank . Starting point was the bottom of Dave's garden which bordered the the Tees off Thornaby Green. And.... these were the...

At home to Grimsby in Sept.1963. We won 6-0 and I thought it was bl--dy marvellous! So that was me hooked for the rest of time through thick and thin! I suppose I was conned really but what else was there to do?

    Your favourite opening film scene

Wyke Red, Erimus 74, I'm with you on this. I saw it in the cinema when it first came out. The GF and I were close to the screen and I felt quite chilly and the the sound of footsteps crunching in the snow and heavy breathing! (on the soundtrack I hasten to add!.... was memorable. My own...
