The big take away points for me are:

-There are 395 residents per square kilometre of land in England and Wales.
- 235 residents per square kilometre in my part of the country.
- 15, 695 residents per square kilometre in Tower Hamlets!!!
- 5,598 residents per square kilometre in London.

ONS 2022 census

Oxford and Cambridge were both big growth areas.

Areas away from the large cities were the ones shown the least growth in population.

Phew that’s a relief - i thought everyone was dead

Thought the population would be higher, to be honest.

UK at around 67 million now.

Though I suppose we'd had a very disruptive last 5-6 years.

I remember been told at school the UK population is static at around 56m and will stay around that level for many years to come.

Its slightly surprising it has increased by 11m since the late 1970s.

Lots then wanted to emigrate. I had relatives leave Teesside to go to Canada, Greece and South Africa.

The population moved up by 5 or 6 million through the 2000's mostly people relocating within the EU, it was felt at my level within the lower/ working class, people finding terms of employment more harsher and other people ready to take their place and work harder and longer hours, which is good for the people moving, who were seeking to improve their lives but left other people feeling uncertain and challenged by it, which was largely ignored by labour or dismissed as racist sentiment while some Tories saw it as good business before they decided to cut their throats and the economies by becoming insular.
