When with 11 minutes remaining on the clock & 2nd division Boro leading 1-0 at 1st division giant Man City at Maine Road & after Boro had dealt with all that City threw at us Franny Lee decided to take the laws of gravity in his own hands & threw himself down in the penalty area, resulting in a spot kick which he himself converted, cancelling out a David Mills strike, with his 1st ever Boro FAC goal, final score 1-1

I was at both these games. If I've got this right we got home late on the Saturday few hours sleep then queuing early Sunday morning for hours and then the reply was on the Tuesday night with a snow covered pitch. First time I ever sat in the South Stand Seats - the Holgate looked magnificent. Tbh I thought the pen was way later like last minute.
 
In his later career Francis Lee was a fat, cheating little bar steward.

When he retired he started a company manufacturing toilet rolls. I always thought that was very appropriate.

And you were right, I always had it the kick was 11 minutes from time but it was the final 3 minutes

Aha! I'm convinced that was the game when with around 5 mins to go I said out loud that we had won this and my Dad was furious and told me to shut it. Cue the equaliser and christ did I learn about the word Jonah on the way home in the car. Never ever say it out loud since
