Agree….Pick a specialist captain. Morgan would do it. He’ll get some runs too, something we can’t say for most of these guys.

I think Stokes’ mental well-being would be a significant factor, he is just back into the team and I don’t think picking up the captaincy would do him a great deal of good.

If anything I would consider giving him a stint of captaincy in the white ball game, a bit further down the line.

Sorry Jonny but I disagree that the rise of linited overs cricket is the sole cause of England's demise. As has been pointed out red ball cricket in both India and NZ has given way to the prominence of white ball cricket but the Test teams have improved immeasurably in the last 5 years.

You need a blueprint for test cricket in England which strategises how you turn it around.
