9am Kit Release!!

I actually think football supporters groups should campaign to force clubs ro sell replica kits without sponsors. It should be a choice. I dont want to wear something that encourages, gambling, or drinking or smoking

But presumably the firms that sponsor football clubs do so on the basis that they'll have tens of thousands of walking billboards through their sponsorship of a particular club.

Therefore removing the sponsor on fans shirt, would impact the revenue the club gets from these firms. I'm not saying that it shouldn't be done, just that there is a commercial aspect to a decision like that.

Yes they do, and it's one reason I've never bought a shirt. But I'm actually quite encouraged that there seems to be the beginnings of a debate about having gambling firms as sponsors, and the fact that this year's 'band' seems to have been constructed precisely to accommodate the sponsor's 'message' seems to have fed into that.

anyone remember when they used to have a plain shirt without logo just for televised games? Then again I am old

Clearly its a commercial issue for the Club and it would be nice to have a company out there that doesn't drive thousands to poverty sponsoring shirts. Sadly there aren't that many who are willing to pay - I am sure the Club would love to choose a non betting company but they want their dosh. Roll on the banning of these gambling sponsorships personally no matter how much it affects revenue of football clubs.

You do realise that Errea pay actual money to provide our shirts, and therefore your idea means that the club will lose revenue it can ill afford in a world of FFP, simply to appease your romantic idea of an in-house designed, manufactured and distributed shirt.

Before you come back and claim that the sales of shirts will make up for it, that's extremely unlikely if not impossible, we have a finite fan base and some of us wouldn't dream of buying a shirt irrespective of who it was designed by.

Yes I realise Errea pay money, but there’s nothing to say these designs can’t be sent back to Errea is there? There are tons of options, I’m not saying it’s easy and I’m not pretending to know all the details, I’m just wondering if it would be possible.

Few year back, 10 perhaps, we had a few sponsors and shirts were consequently different week to week.

Can't quite remember, but could you buy a 'blank' shirt at the time, or could you even buy a 'full' set of shirts with a different sponsor on each ?

(Think LJ Services were one of them ?)

You could definitely buy a blank shirt, I've got one (shame I'm too fat to fit into it).

Not sure about the full set though. Possibly. Seem to think some of them were for sale in the club shop, don't know if all were.

Away?

How about visiting Rwanda?

With Sponsor £50, without £55?

Punters can vote with their wallets then?

So is that extra £5 enough to make up for the lost revenue from the sponsor ?
I'm saying yes, based on nothing but a guess! Plenty (the majority?) would buy the 'standard' one I'm sure.

The numbers at the end of the first season doing it would give the club a metric to base their pricing on?

Yup, that's the most recent shirt I own. Sadly/happily it is actually too big for me now!

I wish I could get one in my size, only have a small and it's very snug on me.

Actually, just found one in Medium on Ebay for £18 including postage.
Unless I've been conned, that's great value.

Having seen the full kit I have to say it looks better than the shirt alone.

It will be regarded as a classic if we are promoted wearing it mind, guaranteed 🙂

I can see it now, Crooks bowling two hapless Mackems and the ball over the line, thundering in a last minute header at the Stadium of Light, on the final day of the season to seal our automatic promotion and their relegation..........
