A poor day

A very poor performance today in a very poor match.
Poor all round.
Poor team selection.
Poor individually and collectively.
Against a poor Stoke side really who did nothing themselves to deserve 3 points.
Refereed by a poor man having a very poor day where he was conned into allowing nothing to flow.

You could point at the vast majority of players and say they were poor today.
There’s no point in singling them out.

I’d say only Fry and perhaps Bola did well.
All the others had off days or howlers.

It’s a reality check that’s all.
We are defensively strong, organised and effective (usually) in midfield, but horrendous in the final third.
Our forwards are simply not good enough.
That’s not going to change. Saying who is best is pointless as watching two bald men fight over a comb.

I intend to enjoy what I can this season without expectation. If we do gate crash the top 6 I will be absolutely delighted.
I think Neil got things wrong today, but not as wrong as his players. And I am still delighted he is the man in our “dug out”.

I agree , only to add i thought Mcnair did nothing much wrong. Bola looked at times like his old self. We were played like weve played other teams this season . However Tavernier, Spence Howson Saville etc etc shadows of themselves today. Perhaps too much smoke blown up their backsides, need to get back the underdog mentality.

Was a poor show all round. I fancy us to win the next 3 games though I really do.

Think the fixtures coming up give us an opportunity to be a bit bolder in selection. I think Watmore needs to start a couple of games in a row because we need someone like him in the team.

I'm starting to wonder if Warnock now needs to decide on his best team and stick with it.

Maddo made a point today that it was similar to Huddersfield, in that we just didn't click as a team.

We're solid and effective in midfield, and that could be partly down to Warnock generally going with the same defence and midfield setup, but we just haven't clicked in the final third.

Yeah the tinkering is starting to produce inconsistent performances. I think if we win the game on Wednesday and it’s a solid performance I would like to follow up with the same team if we can and get a right good run going again.

There was only one change from the previous match, and I expect that was to manage Watmore's work load and prevent an early injury ending his Boro career.

Barring our strikers, I'd say there have actually been very few changes to lineups that haven't been forced by injury or fear of injury.
Even then you could argue the strikers are being rotated because of Fletcher's injury leaving us short.

It would be nice if we didn't start off so negatively. The players don't get any ball possession into well into the first half, by which time we were a goal down.

It was only one change but it meant a tactical change as we switched back to 4-3-3. I appreciate Warnock not wanting to risk Watmore but he even could have just given him the first half.

Perhaps it was Stoke’s secret weapon that made our players have an off day, in the pig sty of a Portacabin changing room!

Can’t afford any more off days after Huddersfield and today, all teams are playing two games a week, I do think we are missing Djiksteel mind.

Yes very poor indeed today. Probably the poorest performance since Warnock took over. Just a little concerned now because that is three Saturdays in a row we have lost. The last two being the worst performances of the season in my book. We had only one chance today in the whole game which Saville really should have scored. Crossing was awful. We need to find a way to get the more creative players like Roberts and Watmore into the starting eleven on a regular basis.

Jesus wept, only 4 days ago you were doing cartwheels and telling Neil Warnock how much you loved him on another thread...

Really doesn't take much for the Doom and Gloom merchants to show their true colours....

Fans are always gloomy when they get beat aren’t they?

Don't go over the top mate. I am just being honest it was a poor performance. I am not unhappy with Warnock far from it but is it not correct that we don't create enough? Is it not correct that Huddersfield last week and today have been probably the two worst shows so far this season? That's all I am saying. I am not having a go at the Manager at all, he has limited resources at his disposal and he's doing a great job. Just like to see us be more effective in the final third and hoping therefore that we will see some more game time from those more creative players. Hardly doom and gloom is it?

Im beginning to hate Saturday evenings. Three in a row we have lost now and then the missus puts Strictly on and that McIntyre monstrosity of a game show.

Cant even go to the pub for a quick pint
