For anyone who hasn't seen this film I can't recommend it enough.

I won't give any of the story away here, but it has brilliant performances from the two main characters.

It's films like this that really get under your skin.

A basic clue Jonny - period drama /cowboy/ war movie / detective ?. Netflix / iPlayer/ Disney ?

cheers.

Basic premise is a father and daughter share a holiday in Turkey, much of which is shown through home video they recorded together.

I don't want to go any further than that because I don't want to give anything away, but its an incredible film.

And where can it be watched, if that information wouldn’t be too much trouble?
Not sure, I watched it on iptv, sorry.

Have to be honest, didn't quite get the overall message it was trying to get across.

Nothing wrong with the acting though.
I don't think there was a "message" as such, rather it's about the relationship between the two main characters, how they are at times inverted and not the traditional parent child dynamic, how the daughter sees her father differently due to age and becoming a parent herself.

I thought the ending was outstanding and made you see much of the film in a different way.

I tried this the other day but only managed about 30 minutes and realised I’d spent most of that time looking at my phone. When does it kick in? I’ve heard it recommended before.

It is a slow burner for sure, I actually watched it in two parts and the first half didn't really grab my attention.

But the ending puts entirely different context on the rest of the film and made me see the earlier scenes is a very different light.

I know a couple of others didn't enjoy it, but I thought it was outstanding.

James O’Brien gave it a really good review the other week, saying it’s one of those films that stays with you.

I’ll give it another go.

Well thanks a lot. No point watching it now that you've given away so much of the plot.

Only joking

Haha. You didn’t want to give anything away - and then you did!
It can be streamed on MUBI or for £4.99 on Amazon Prime.

You're welcome!

I've not given anything away there given the story of the film, you can find far more out from the trailer.

Watched this last night on BBC iplayer.
Wow, what a film!
Absolutely hit me like a sledgehammer.
I guess you can watch it and think it's slow and ponderous but if you're not looking for clues you simply won't get it.

Had the same effect on me, amazing film and brilliant performances from the two lead characters.

Paul Mescal has a lead role in the New Gladiator film I think and is brilliant in All of Us Strangers, which is a great film too.

Glad you enjoyed it.
